Question 1

What counts as a sixth form college on this Wigan page?

Accepted Answer

This page focuses on dedicated post-16 sixth form providers. In practice that includes specialist 16 to 19 academies and similar standalone providers, while excluding the broader school-attached sixth form set.

Question 2

Why is the colleges page smaller than the full sixth form list in Wigan?

Accepted Answer

Most sixth form results belong to schools that also teach younger year groups. The colleges page removes those broader school-based sixth forms and keeps the dedicated post-16 provider subset only.

Question 3

Can I still compare A-level performance across colleges in Wigan?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The ranking, map, and neighbourhood sections all work on the filtered dedicated-provider set, so you can compare standalone post-16 options directly.
