Cookie Policy
1. Who we are and how to contact us
1.1 FindMySchool is operated by Leovate Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16743779) with its registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, London, WC2H 9JQ.
1.2 If you have any questions about this policy, please email info@findmyschool.uk.
2. What this policy covers
2.1 This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies we use on findmyschool.uk, why we use them, and how you can manage your preferences.
2.2 This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we use any personal data collected through cookies.
3. What cookies are
3.1 Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They allow the site to recognise your device on subsequent visits and to store information such as your login state or preferences.
4. Categories of cookies we use
We group the cookies we use into three categories: strictly necessary, analytics, and advertising.
4.1 Strictly necessary cookies
4.1.1 Strictly necessary cookies are needed for the site to function. Without them, features such as signing in, staying signed in, and remembering basic layout preferences for the dashboard would not work.
4.1.2 These cookies are exempt from the consent requirement under Regulation 6(4) of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 because they are strictly necessary to provide the service you have requested.
4.1.3 The strictly necessary cookies we use are:
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
sb-<project-ref>-auth-token | Authentication session token used by our sign-in service to keep you signed in. In some cases this cookie is split into multiple parts named .0, .1. | Session and persistent. Cleared on sign-out. |
sidebar:state | Remembers whether the dashboard sidebar is expanded or collapsed. | Persistent (1 year) |
findmyschool-consent | Stores your cookie preferences so we do not ask you again on every visit. | Persistent (12 months) |
4.2 Analytics cookies
4.2.1 Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. These cookies are not strictly necessary. The local cookie notice currently shown on FindMySchool is cosmetic only and does not control analytics cookies.
4.2.2 The analytics cookies we use are provided by Google Analytics 4. We have configured Google Analytics 4 to use IP-anonymisation features so that full IP addresses are not stored, and we have switched off Google Signals so that analytics data is not used for advertising purposes.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Distinguishes unique users by assigning a randomly generated number as a client identifier | 24 months |
_ga_<container-id> | Persists session state for Google Analytics 4 | 24 months |
4.3 Advertising cookies
4.3.1 Advertising cookies and similar technologies help display ads, measure ad performance, prevent fraud and abuse, limit how often the same ad is shown, and, where you consent, personalise ads.
4.3.2 Advertising cookies are provided by Google AdSense and are controlled through Google AdSense Privacy & messaging or another Google-certified consent management platform where required. Depending on your choices and Google account/ad settings, ads may be personalised, non-personalised, or limited.
4.3.3 Common Google advertising and consent cookies may include:
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
__gads | Ad serving, ad measurement, and security for Google advertising products including AdSense | 13 months |
__gpi | Ad serving, ad measurement, and security for AdSense and Google Ad Manager | 13 months |
__eoi | Security and ad integrity for Google advertising products including AdSense | 6 months |
test_cookie | Checks whether the browser supports cookies for Google advertising services | 15 minutes |
FCCDCF | Stores Google Funding Choices / Privacy & messaging consent choices | 13 months |
FCNEC | Supports Google Funding Choices / Privacy & messaging consent operation | 365 days |
4.3.4 Google's current advertising cookie information is published at https://business.safety.google/adscookies/ and Google's explanation of how it uses information from sites that use its services is published at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
5. Cookie notices and consent controls
5.1 The first time you visit findmyschool.uk, we may display a local cookie notice. For now, the local Accept and Reject buttons only close the notice and remember that display choice in your browser. They do not set a consent cookie and do not control analytics, advertising, or other tracking.
5.2 The local notice stores only a cosmetic display preference in local storage under findmyschool-cookie-banner-choice-v1. It does not use the historical findmyschool-consent cookie for new choices.
5.3 Where Google AdSense is enabled, Google AdSense Privacy & messaging or another Google-certified consent management platform asks for any advertising consent required for Google ads. Advertising choices are separate from the local FindMySchool cookie notice.
6. How to change or withdraw your consent
6.1 You can reopen the local cookie notice at any time through the "Cookie settings" link in our footer. This currently changes only the local display preference for the notice.
6.1A You can change advertising consent through the Google AdSense Privacy & messaging controls shown on the site where applicable, including Google's privacy and cookie settings link where Google provides it.
6.2 You can also block or delete cookies using your browser settings. Most browsers offer controls under "Privacy" or "Cookies". Note that if you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the site (including signing in) will not work.
7. International transfers
7.1 We may store the data we collect from you outside the United Kingdom, or transfer it to organisations outside the United Kingdom. When we do this, we make sure that your data is protected by relying on either an adequacy decision under Article 45 UK GDPR, or by entering into specific contracts approved for use in the United Kingdom (such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses) which give personal data the same protection as it has in the United Kingdom. If you would like more information about the specific safeguards we use, please email info@findmyschool.uk. Further information on transfers relating to Google Analytics is available at https://business.safety.google/intltransfers/.
8. Changes to this policy
8.1 We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this document shows when it was last changed.
9. Complaints
9.1 If you have a complaint about our use of cookies, please contact us at info@findmyschool.uk in the first instance.
9.2 You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
