3. Data accuracy and sources

3.1 Data sources

Our data is compiled from official sources including:

  • Department for Education (DfE)
  • Ofsted
  • Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI)
  • Individual school websites
  • Office for National Statistics
  • Local education authorities
  • The University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford, in respect of Oxbridge admissions data
  • Freedom of Information requests

3.2 Data currency and accuracy

3.2.1 School data is compiled from multiple sources and updated periodically. Information may not reflect real-time changes, including new Ofsted inspections, staff changes, policy changes, capacity changes, or changes to admission numbers and catchment areas.

3.2.2 We make no warranties about the completeness, accuracy, or currency of any data. Application data including "last distance offered" is historical and does not predict or guarantee future admissions.

3.2.3 You must verify all information directly with the relevant school or local authority before making any decision based on it. Section 9 of these Terms sets out further limits on our liability.

4. Acceptable use

4.2 Prohibited use

You must not:

  • Use our data for commercial purposes without our written permission

5. Privacy, cookies, and data protection

5.1 Your use of FindMySchool is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and use your personal data in accordance with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

5.2 We use cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy. Strictly necessary cookies are set without consent under Regulation 6(4) of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003. Analytics cookies are set only if you give consent through our cookie banner. You can manage your preferences at any time through the "Cookie settings" link in our footer.

6. Intellectual property

6.1 Our content

All content on FindMySchool, including:

  • Rankings, ranking methodologies, and the scores produced by them
  • School reviews and editorial summaries
  • Performance data presentations
  • Website design and functionality
  • Original written content and analysis
  • Logos and branding

is protected by intellectual property laws and remains our property or that of our licensors.

6.2 Your rights

You may:

  • View and print pages for personal use
  • Share links to our content
  • Quote brief excerpts with attribution

You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

7. Account registration

7.1 To use certain features (including saving schools, using the school-matching tool, and purchasing a paid service) you must create an account. You confirm that you are 18 or over and that the information you provide on registration is accurate and complete.

7.2 You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for any activity carried out under your account. You must notify us immediately at info@findmyschool.uk if you suspect unauthorised access.

7.3 We may suspend or terminate your account in accordance with section 12.

8. Paid services

8.1 Types of paid service

8.1.1 We offer two types of paid service:

  • Plus subscription, a recurring subscription giving access to additional features for a billing period.
  • One-off paid services, such as the School Match Pack, giving access to a specific feature or output for a defined period or scope, with a single payment.

8.1.2 The current price, billing period (if any), and features of each paid service are displayed at the point of purchase and on our pricing page.

8.1.3 Prices are stated in pounds sterling. Leovate Ltd is not currently registered for VAT, so VAT is not charged.

8.2 Plus subscription: billing and renewal

8.2.1 By subscribing to a Plus plan you authorise us, through our payment processor Stripe, to charge the applicable fee to your chosen payment method at the start of each billing period.

8.2.2 Plus subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price for the same plan, unless you cancel before the renewal date in accordance with section 8.5.

8.2.3 If we change the price of a Plus plan, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect. The new price will apply from the next renewal after the notice period ends. If you do not wish to continue at the new price, you may cancel under section 8.5 at any time before the change takes effect, and your access to Plus will continue until the end of the current billing period at the existing price.

8.3 One-off paid services

8.3.1 Where you purchase a one-off paid service such as the School Match Pack, you pay the full price at the point of purchase. There is no recurring charge.

8.3.2 Access to the purchased service is granted immediately on payment, subject to section 8.4.

8.4 Right to cancel within 14 days

8.4.1 You have a 14-day right to cancel any paid service from FindMySchool, under regulations 29 and 30 of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. The 14-day period begins on the day the contract is entered into.

8.4.2 To exercise this right, you may use either of the following methods:

  • email info@findmyschool.uk before the 14-day period expires, stating that you wish to cancel; or
  • use the cancellation option in your account settings.

Any clear statement of your decision to cancel is sufficient. We will acknowledge receipt of any cancellation request without undue delay.

8.4A Plus subscription (a service contract)

8.4A.1 The Plus subscription is a service contract under regulation 5 of the 2013 Regulations.

8.4A.2 At checkout we ask you to confirm that you want immediate access to Plus during the 14-day cancellation period. This confirmation is your express request under regulation 36(1) of the 2013 Regulations and your access begins immediately on payment. If you do not provide this confirmation, you cannot proceed to payment.

8.4A.3 Whether or not you have confirmed immediate access, you may cancel within the 14-day period by following section 8.4.2. If you cancel within the 14-day period, we will refund the amount you have paid for the current billing period, less a proportionate amount for the period during which Plus was supplied to you up to the point of cancellation. The proportionate amount is calculated by reference to the number of days of access used over the length of the current billing period. This is the regulation 36(4) proportionate-charge rule under the 2013 Regulations.

8.4A.4 Your right to cancel under regulation 29 is preserved throughout the 14-day period and is not lost merely because you have used Plus features. (Under regulation 36(6) the right would only be lost if the service had been fully performed during the cancellation period and you had given express consent and acknowledgment of loss of the right; a monthly Plus subscription is not fully performed in 14 days, so this exclusion does not apply.)

8.4B One-off paid services such as the School Match Pack (a digital content contract)

8.4B.1 One-off paid services such as the School Match Pack are digital content not supplied on a tangible medium, within the meaning of regulation 37 of the 2013 Regulations.

8.4B.2 At checkout, we ask you to confirm in a single tickbox that:

  • (i) you want immediate access to the service and give your express consent to FindMySchool beginning to provide it before the end of the 14-day cancellation period; and
  • (ii) you understand that, by accessing the service, you will lose your right to cancel under regulation 37 of the 2013 Regulations once supply has begun.

We record this confirmation against your account.

8.4B.3 If you do not tick the confirmation box at checkout, you cannot proceed to payment.

8.4B.4 If you have ticked the confirmation box described in section 8.4B.2 but have not yet accessed any feature of the purchased service, you remain entitled to a full refund within the 14-day period.

8.5 Cancellation outside the 14-day period (Plus subscription only)

8.5.1 You may cancel your Plus subscription at any time through your account settings, or by emailing info@findmyschool.uk.

8.5.2 Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will continue to have access to Plus features until the end of that period, after which your account will revert to the free service.

8.5.3 We do not provide partial refunds for unused portions of a billing period (other than as required by law, including the cancellation rights described in section 8.4 and the operator-initiated suspension rule in section 10.2A).

8.6 Refunds and disputes

8.6.1 Where a refund is due (for example, under section 8.4 or where required by law), we will refund the relevant amount within 14 days of the day on which we are informed of your decision to cancel, in accordance with regulation 34 of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. We will use the same payment method you used for the original transaction unless you have agreed otherwise, and you will not incur any fees as a result of the refund.

8.6.2 If you have a billing dispute, please contact us at info@findmyschool.uk before raising a chargeback so we can investigate and resolve the issue.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

9.1 Information service only

9.1.1 FindMySchool is an information service. We do not provide educational, legal, financial, or other professional advice.

9.1.2 We do not warrant that any information on the service is accurate, current, complete, or fit for any particular purpose. Information may change at any time, including without notice.

9.1.3 You must verify all information directly with the relevant school, local authority, or other authoritative source before making any decision based on it. This includes information about admissions, catchment areas, ranking, performance, inspection ratings, fees, contact details, and any other material fact.

9.2 Decisions are your responsibility

9.2.1 Any decision you make based on information from the service, including but not limited to school applications, house moves, relocation, financial commitments, choice of school, or any other educational, personal, or commercial decision, is your sole responsibility.

9.2.2 We are not involved in school admissions processes. Admission criteria, catchments, and outcomes are managed by individual schools and local authorities. Past admission data (including any "last distance offered" or similar metric) is historical and does not predict or guarantee future admission outcomes.

9.3 Limitation of liability

9.3.1 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability to you where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, our obligation under section 49 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to perform services with reasonable care and skill, and your other statutory rights as a consumer.

9.3.2 The exclusions and limits of liability in this section apply to any loss or damage, whether arising in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise, even if foreseeable.

9.3.3 Subject to section 9.3.1, we are not liable for:

  • any decision you make based on information from the service;
  • missed application deadlines, unsuccessful school applications, or any loss of opportunity or chance of admission to any school;
  • relocation, housing, or financial decisions made on the basis of information from the service;
  • inaccuracies, omissions, or out-of-date information, including in third-party data sources that we accurately republish, provided we have exercised reasonable care and skill in compiling, updating and presenting that data;
  • misinterpretation of data, rankings, ratings, or visualisations;
  • changes in school admissions policies, catchment areas, criteria, or outcomes that occur at any time;
  • service unavailability, interruption, or errors;
  • any business-related loss, including loss of profit, revenue, business opportunity, or anticipated saving; or
  • any indirect, special, or consequential loss.

9.3.4 Subject to section 9.3.1, our total liability to you in connection with the service in any 12-month period is limited to the total amount you paid us in that period.

9.3.5 You acknowledge that FindMySchool is an information service and that all decisions you make remain your sole responsibility.

10. Service availability and third-party content

10.1 We provide the service on an "as available" basis. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, or error-free, although we take reasonable steps to maintain availability and security.

10.2 We may suspend, withdraw, or restrict the availability of all or part of the service for operational, technical, security, or legal reasons. Where reasonably practicable, we will give you advance notice of any suspension or withdrawal.

10.2A Where we permanently withdraw the service or any paid feature for reasons not attributable to you, and you have a current Plus subscription or have made a one-off purchase to which you have not yet had reasonable access, we will refund the unused portion of your Plus billing period or the price of the one-off purchase, calculated on a pro-rata basis. Any refund under this section will be made in accordance with section 8.6.1.

10.3 The service may contain links to, or display content from, third-party websites and services (including school websites, official information sources, and our service providers). We do not control these third parties and are not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy, or practices. Any access you make to a third-party site is at your own risk and subject to that third party's own terms.

10.4 You are responsible for ensuring that the device, software, and internet connection you use to access the service are suitable and secure.

10.5 This section does not limit our obligations under section 9.3.1 or your statutory rights as a consumer.

11. Your statutory rights

11.1 Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer. If you are a consumer, you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 that cannot be excluded or limited.

12. Termination

12.1 You may stop using the service and close your account at any time through your account settings or by emailing info@findmyschool.uk.

12.2 We may suspend or terminate your account on reasonable notice if:

  • you breach these Terms in a material way;
  • we are required to do so by law; or
  • there is a credible risk to us, other users, or third parties.

Where the breach or risk is so serious that immediate action is necessary (for example, fraud, attempted unauthorised access, or a court order requiring immediate action), we may suspend or terminate without prior notice and notify you as soon as reasonably practicable afterwards.

12.2A Where we suspend or terminate your account in circumstances not attributable to you, section 10.2A on pro-rata refunds applies.

12.3 On termination, your right to use the service ends. Sections that by their nature are intended to survive termination (including sections 6, 9, 10, 14, and 15) will continue to apply.

13. School Claim and School Premium

This section applies in addition to the rest of these Terms where a school claims or operates a profile on FindMySchool. The rest of these Terms also apply, except where this section says otherwise.

13.1 The contracting party

13.1.1 The contracting party for School Claim and School Premium is the school as an institution, identified by the school's verified email domain and the named contact details we hold on the school's account record. The individual who claims the profile (the "claimant") acts on behalf of the school as the school's authorised representative.

13.1.2 The claimant warrants that they have authority from the school's governing body, headteacher, or equivalent senior leader to claim the profile and to bind the school to these Terms.

13.1.3 Where an external agency or consultant operates the dashboard on the school's behalf, the school remains the contracting party. The school is responsible for everything the agency does on the dashboard, including any content uploaded and any settings changed by the agency. We may require written authorisation from a senior school official from the school's domain email address before granting agency access.

13.1.4 An individual using the dashboard is taken to be acting with the school's full authority. We are not required to verify each action taken on the dashboard.

13.2 What School Claim provides

13.2.1 School Claim has two tiers: a free tier ("Basic") and a paid tier ("Premium"). The features available in each tier are set out at https://findmyschool.uk/claim-your-school as updated from time to time.

13.2.2 We may add, remove, or change features in either tier. We will give the school reasonable notice of changes that materially reduce features the school relies on under a current Premium subscription, and the school may cancel under section 13.5 if it does not accept the change.

13.3 Editorial independence

13.3.1 Reviews, rankings, scores, inspection summaries, and editorial content on FindMySchool are editorially independent. Claiming a profile, subscribing to Premium, or otherwise paying for any School Claim feature does not influence editorial content.

13.3.2 The school may flag factual inaccuracies in editorial content for our editorial team to review. We will consider each flag in good faith but retain sole editorial discretion over the outcome.

13.4 Premium subscription

13.4.1 Premium is a paid subscription with a monthly or annual billing period. The current price and billing options are displayed at the point of purchase and at https://findmyschool.uk/claim-your-school.

13.4.2 By subscribing to Premium, the school authorises us, through our payment processor Stripe, to charge the applicable fee to the school's chosen payment method at the start of each billing period.

13.4.3 Premium renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price for the same plan, unless cancelled before the renewal date in accordance with section 13.5. We will send the school a renewal reminder by email at least 7 days before each renewal.

13.4.4 If we change the price of Premium, we will notify the school by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect. The new price will apply from the next renewal after the notice period ends.

13.5 Cancellation and refund of Premium

13.5.1 The school may cancel Premium at any time through the dashboard or by emailing info@findmyschool.uk.

13.5.2 If the school cancels within 14 days of starting Premium for the first time, we will refund the amount paid for the current billing period in full, less a proportionate amount for the period during which Premium was supplied to the school up to the point of cancellation. This is offered as a contract concession; the consumer cancellation rules in the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 do not apply because the school is not a consumer.

13.5.3 If the school cancels at any other time, the school's access to Premium continues until the end of the current billing period and we will not provide a refund for the unused portion of that period. Premium will not renew at the end of that period.

13.5.4 Subsections 13.5.2 and 13.5.3 do not apply where we are responsible for cancellation (for example, where we permanently withdraw Premium for reasons not attributable to the school). In those cases, we will refund the unused portion of the current billing period on a pro-rata basis.

13.6 Content uploaded by the school

13.6.1 The school owns or has the rights to all content the school uploads to its profile, including school logos, photos, video links, event descriptions, and call-to-action links.

13.6.2 By uploading content, the school grants Leovate Ltd a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, store, copy, resize, and cache the content for the purpose of operating the school's profile on findmyschool.uk and our supporting infrastructure. This licence ends when the content is removed from the profile, except for cached or archived copies that we may continue to hold for a reasonable period as part of our normal technical operations.

13.6.3 The school warrants on each upload that:

  • the school is authorised to upload the content;
  • the school owns the content or has the right to grant the licence in section 13.6.2;
  • where the content shows identifiable individuals, the school has obtained any consents required by UK GDPR, the school's safeguarding policy, and any applicable court orders or photo restrictions;
  • the content does not infringe the rights of any third party (including intellectual property, privacy, defamation, or contract rights); and
  • the content is not unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise inappropriate.

13.6.4 We may remove content that we reasonably believe breaches section 13.6.3 without prior notice. We may also remove content if a third party makes a credible complaint about the content.

13.6.5 The school is responsible for keeping uploaded content accurate and current. The school may remove or replace content at any time through the dashboard.

13.7 Ranking badges

13.7.1 We may make available to claimed schools a "ranking badge" reflecting the school's current FindMySchool ranking, in either or both of the following formats:

  • a downloadable PNG image showing the school's ranking and the year to which the ranking relates; and
  • an embed code that displays the school's then-current ranking dynamically when included on the school's website.

13.7.2 We grant the school a non-exclusive, non-transferable, royalty-free, revocable licence to display the badge on the school's own website, admissions pages, marketing materials, and prospectus pages, solely for the purpose of indicating the school's actual FindMySchool ranking.

13.7.3 The school must:

  • display the badge as supplied, without altering, cropping, or otherwise modifying it (including removing the year);
  • not display the badge alongside any claim, statement, or imagery that is misleading about the ranking, the source of the ranking, or the school's relationship with FindMySchool;
  • not use the badge to imply any endorsement, sponsorship, partnership, or affiliation beyond the ranking shown; and
  • ensure that any badge displayed is the badge for the most recently published ranking and accurately reflects the school's current ranking.

13.7.4 Rankings are calculated from official results and published data. Claiming a profile, subscribing to Premium, or paying us in any other way does not influence rankings, scores, or editorial judgement.

13.7.5 We update rankings periodically. Where we update or withdraw a ranking and a school is displaying a badge that no longer reflects the school's current ranking, we may notify the school by email and require the school to update or remove the badge. The school is responsible for updating or removing static badges (including PNG downloads) it has displayed; embed codes update automatically.

13.7.6 We may withdraw the licence granted in section 13.7.2 at any time, including where the school is in breach of these Terms, where rankings, methodology, or eligibility have changed, or for any other reason. On withdrawal of the licence, the school must cease displaying the badge as soon as reasonably practicable.

13.7.7 If the school believes its ranking is inaccurate, it may flag the issue for our editorial team to review through the dashboard or by email. We will consider each flag in good faith but flagging does not guarantee a change.

13.8 Indemnity for uploaded content

13.8.1 The school agrees to indemnify Leovate Ltd against all claims, losses, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with content the school uploads to its profile, including any claim that the content infringes a third party's rights or breaches any of the warranties in section 13.6.3.

13.8.2 This indemnity does not apply to the extent any claim, loss, damage, cost, or expense arises from our own negligence or wilful misconduct.

13.9 Parent enquiries forwarded to schools

13.9.1 Where the school is on Premium, parents may contact the school through findmyschool.uk. We forward the parent's enquiry by email to the verified email address the school holds on file. We do not store the contents of these enquiries on our infrastructure.

13.9.2 The school is responsible for handling parent enquiries it receives, including for any reply the school sends and for compliance with the school's own data protection obligations.

13.10 Liability between us and the school (B2B)

13.10.1 Sections 9 and 10 of these Terms apply to the school's use of School Claim and School Premium, except as modified in this section.

13.10.2 The school is not a consumer and the consumer-protection legislation referenced in sections 8 and 9 does not apply. The school is contracting in the course of its trade, profession, or institutional activity.

13.10.3 Subject to section 9.3.1, in any 12-month period our total liability to the school in connection with School Claim and School Premium is limited to the total amount the school paid us for Premium in that period.

13.10.4 Subject to section 9.3.1, we are not liable to the school for any indirect, special, or consequential loss, or for any loss of profit, revenue, business opportunity, anticipated saving, goodwill, or reputation.

13.11 Instagram integration

13.11.1 Where the school has a current Premium subscription, the school may connect its own Instagram account through the dashboard. This integration causes the school's most recent public Instagram posts to be displayed on the school's profile page on findmyschool.uk. This is the only Instagram integration we operate.

13.11.2 The connection is governed by Meta's own terms. The school is responsible for compliance with those terms and for the content the school posts to Instagram.

13.11.3 The school may disconnect the integration at any time through the dashboard. We may withdraw the integration in accordance with section 13.2.2.

14. Changes to these Terms

14.1 We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this document shows when these Terms were last changed.

14.2 Where we make a material change to these Terms (including any change that reduces your rights or increases your obligations) and you are a registered user, we will notify you of the change by email and on next sign-in. If you continue to use the service after a material change has been notified, you accept the updated Terms. If you have a current Plus subscription and do not accept the change, you may cancel under section 8.6 (within the 14-day cooling-off period) or at any time thereafter, and your subscription will end at the close of the current billing period. If you are a school with a current Premium subscription and do not accept the change, you may cancel under section 13.5.

14.3 Non-material changes (such as corrections of typographical errors, clarifications that do not affect your rights or obligations, or updates to processor links in our Privacy Policy) take effect when published and do not require notification.

15. General

15.1 Entire agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Leovate Ltd in relation to the service and supersede any prior agreements.

15.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

15.3 No waiver

Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of our right to do so later.

15.4 Assignment

You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms to anyone else. We may transfer ours to another company within our group or to a successor in business, provided your rights are not adversely affected.

16. Governing law and jurisdiction

16.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

16.2 Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the UK in which you reside.
