Schools in Hemel Hempstead

One of Hertfordshire's largest planned settlements, Hemel Hempstead carries the character of a New Town overlaid on a medieval market town, with the 2021 census recording 96,000 residents across the Dacorum district. Henry VIII granted the town its charter in 1539. Its modern form, however, owes far more to the 1947 New Towns Act, which brought rapid housing development around the River Gade and the Grand Union Canal.

Bovingdon and Woodhall Farm are among the most sought-after corners for primary catchments, drawing families who value village-edge calm and well-served state schools. Bennetts End and Apsley extend south towards the canal corridor, while Warners End marks the western fringe. Hemel Hempstead station reaches London Euston in around thirty minutes via London Northwestern Railway.
