Inayah Daycare

At a Glance

Play dough, outdoor vegetable activities and a kindness tree give Inayah Daycare’s May 2024 nursery life a recognisable character: practical learning alongside encouragement to treat others well. At its 3 May 2024 inspection, Ofsted judged the nursery Good overall.

Based on Bacchus Road in Birmingham, the setting has capacity for 40 children. Children attending in May 2024 were aged two to four; that age range describes the children at that time.

The Nursery Experience

The early years foundation stage brings learning, development and care together, with play supporting skills such as communication, movement and understanding numbers. In May 2024, seasonal topics shaped activities, with particular emphasis on language, physical development and personal development.

Mathematics had practical uses. Children counted sides on play-dough shapes and compared their models’ sizes. Outside, bikes and slides supported movement, while shaping dough exercised smaller hand movements. These experiences connected learning to things children could handle and do.

The kindness tree made considerate behaviour visible: children’s names were added when staff recognised acts of kindness. Praise and gentle reminders also supported sharing and taking turns. However, May 2024 conversations did not consistently extend learning far enough. Naming vegetables, for example, needed more discussion about their growth.

Care and Support

In May 2024, settling sessions helped staff learn about each child before assessing their starting points; subsequent observations informed activities and next steps. Stories and reassuring attention helped newcomers settle. At the May 2024 inspection, Ofsted found safeguarding effective and children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, making good progress.

Home learning ideas were sent to families regularly. School preparation needed greater attention to social confidence and independence, alongside mathematics and writing, although children practised putting on shoes and coats, pouring drinks and clearing away toys.

Fruit snacks and milk featured in May 2024 discussions about healthy eating. Food became another opportunity to explain everyday choices.

Practical Information

The address is 214 Bacchus Road, Birmingham B18 4RE. In May 2024, opening hours were 9am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday, during term time.

At that date, the nursery provided funded early education for children aged two, three and four. This describes its funding provision then, rather than establishing a present-day booking arrangement.

Things to Consider

  • Conversation beyond naming. May 2024 practice needed more sustained discussion to deepen understanding. Ask how staff now extend children’s questions during activities such as vegetable exploration.
  • Confidence for school. Social and independence skills needed more deliberate attention in May 2024. Explore how these now sit alongside early mathematics and writing.
  • Attendance fit. The May 2024 timetable ran during term time. What current attendance and funding arrangement would suit your family?

The Verdict

Inayah Daycare merits consideration from families who value practical early learning and encouragement of kindness. Its May 2024 strengths included hands-on mathematics, outdoor movement and personalised activity planning. The decision also deserves attention to the two improvement priorities: deeper conversations and more deliberate preparation for the social demands of school.
