Kinder Care Day Nursery

At a Glance

Giant screws, animal-sound books and firefighter role play give Kinder Care Day Nursery’s March 2025 nursery day a practical, playful character. Conversation runs through these experiences, with staff helping children put words to what they are doing.

Ofsted rated the nursery Good on 5 March 2025 and judged safeguarding effective. The setting in Stechford, Birmingham has 50 places in total for children aged 1 to 60 months. Its strongest inspection examples concern language and everyday independence; outdoor provision and the precision of adult-led teaching were the areas needing attention.

The Nursery Experience

The early years foundation stage sets expectations for children’s learning, development and care, with play providing opportunities to practise communication, movement and social skills. In March 2025, activities drew on children’s interests: older children handled shaped bolts and large screws while learning shape vocabulary, and babies explored books with animal sounds that staff encouraged them to imitate.

Imagination had a practical purpose too. Children acted out nursing and firefighting, using pretend situations to explore helping other people. Pancake Day involved making pancakes, while books introduced Ramadan and Eid. These experiences connected play with different customs and celebrations.

Outside, children rode bikes in March 2025. The outdoor space needed further development to support the curriculum more fully, although staff supervision meant the condition had no impact on children at that visit. Adult-led activities also needed closer alignment with each child’s next learning steps. Enjoyable activity was not consistently matched to a precise learning intention.

Care and Support

At the March 2025 inspection, Ofsted found that children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, made good progress through a play-based curriculum informed by parents’ knowledge and staff observations.

Daily routines supplied opportunities to practise independence in March 2025: children managed handwashing, toileting and outdoor clothing, while older children recognised their names to mark their attendance. Staff encouraged sharing and taking turns, and children helped put resources away. These are useful foundations for managing a school day.

Communication extended beyond updates about activities. In March 2025, parents received ideas for learning at home and advice about toilet training. Children ate nutritious meals and snacks and discussed how food supported their health. Staff training also included a language screening tool to help support communication development.

Practical Information

Things to Consider

  • Outdoor learning. March 2025 brought a recommendation to develop the outdoor space. On a visit, ask to see how the space now supports learning alongside bike riding.
  • Individual teaching. Adult-led activities needed sharper attention to what each child should learn next in March 2025. Ask for an example of how a child’s observations shape a planned activity.
  • Planning attendance. The opening window spans the working day. Before joining, ask which booking patterns and funded-hours arrangements would fit your child, including the treatment of meals and consumables.

The Verdict

Kinder Care suits families who value play, conversation and practical independence, with weekday opening across the year. March 2025 examples include shape play and everyday routines. Outdoor learning and individualised teaching were the improvement priorities in March 2025.
