Songs, shared stories and small acts of independence give Litcham Childcare its character. In January 2026, children borrowed books to enjoy at home, explored words through music and practised counting during everyday play. These are useful examples of learning woven into ordinary nursery life.
Based at Litcham Children's Centre in Litcham, King's Lynn, the setting has capacity for 24 children aged 24 to 60 months. At its January 2026 inspection, Ofsted judged behaviour, attitudes and routines Strong standard, the remaining education and care areas Expected standard, and safeguarding standards met. The teaching recommendations deserve attention alongside those strengths.
The early years foundation stage sets the requirements for children's learning, development and care: here, the January 2026 activities included language, number work and opportunities to practise social skills through play.
In January 2026, weekly music sessions gave children opportunities to try different sounds, movement and pronunciation. A lending library extended story time into the home. Together, these provided different ways to encounter language, rather than relying only on conversation during nursery hours.
Practical play supplied other learning opportunities that month. Children used a map to search for hidden treasure and counted the features they added to play-dough snowmen. The garden provided space for outdoor learning, with additional resources chosen around children's interests. During circle time, children practised expressing their thoughts and waiting to speak.
There were two teaching priorities in January 2026: staff needed to make more of opportunities to develop learning during interactions, and children's individual next steps needed greater precision. Activities alone were not the whole picture; how adults extended them mattered too.
At the January 2026 inspection, Ofsted found that children progressed effectively, including those needing additional support, and that the SENDCo worked with families and other professionals on targeted plans. This gives parents a dated assessment of support in practice, rather than a general promise.
In January 2026, home visits and settling sessions helped staff learn about children's routines and identify support needs early. The key-person arrangement gave children a familiar adult to turn to for reassurance. Staff also used observations and conversations with parents to understand children's learning.
School preparation included working with teachers on transitions that January. Healthy habits were addressed through outdoor activity, discussions about toothbrushing and guidance for parents about food choices. Mealtimes gave children opportunities to talk with adults and each other.
The address is Litcham Children's Centre, Weasenham Road, Litcham, King's Lynn, PE32 2QT. The setting's age range is 24 to 60 months; its whole-setting capacity is 24 places, which should not be read as the size of an individual group.
Litcham Childcare suits families who value story sharing, music and practical play, with a settling process that drew on home visits and familiar adults in January 2026. Its strongest inspection area was behaviour and routines. The balance is clear: positive experiences and relationships, alongside specific work to sharpen teaching and individual learning plans.
