Little Buddies Pre-School

At a Glance

Crate-built bridges and children pouring their own drinks give Little Buddies Pre-School a practical, hands-on character in its November 2025 snapshot. Everyday tasks become opportunities to practise independence and cooperate with friends.

At its November 2025 inspection, Ofsted judged achievement, behaviour and routines, welfare, curriculum and teaching, inclusion, and leadership to meet the Expected standard, with safeguarding standards met. The setting has capacity for 24 children at Church Hall in Lowestoft. Children attending in November 2025 were aged 0 to 4; that age range belongs to the inspection snapshot.

The Nursery Experience

The early years foundation stage sets the requirements for children's learning, development and care, linking everyday play with developing skills. In November 2025, stories and songs gave children opportunities to practise language, while experiments with objects that floated or sank introduced scientific thinking. A rainbow prompted conversation about rain and sunshine. Learning could follow something children had just noticed.

Physical experiences varied with children's development. In November 2025, babies used soft play equipment for crawling and climbing; older children could dig, run and draw outdoors. Children who benefited from outdoor learning had longer opportunities outside, including working together on bridges made from crates.

Teaching needed greater consistency. In November 2025, staff did not always adjust an activity effectively when children's responses called for a different approach. Strengthening their understanding of child development was a priority, so that emerging interests could become fuller learning opportunities.

Care and Support

At the November 2025 inspection, Ofsted found that children progressed steadily, SEND support enabled participation, and relationships with key persons helped children feel secure. Individual adult support enabled creative activities, including hand painting.

In November 2025, home visits helped staff understand children's experiences outside the setting. Babies' care followed familiar routines, with quiet singing around sleep. Stay-and-play sessions gave families opportunities to spend time with staff, while practical help included food parcels for disadvantaged children.

Sensory resources and collaboration with external professionals formed part of support in November 2025. Changes between activities remained harder for some children with limited language: strategies did not consistently help them understand what would happen next. This matters because a familiar routine can be manageable while the change away from it is unsettling.

At that time, staff also gave families advice about the nutritional content of packed lunches.

Practical Information

Church Hall is on Homefield Avenue, Lowestoft, NR33 9BU. In November 2025, opening hours were 9am to 3pm on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, and 9am to noon on Thursday. These describe the opening window at that time.

In November 2025, early starts and additional sessions were used to accommodate family circumstances. Support for regular attendance nevertheless needed more decisive action to understand and tackle barriers.

Things to Consider

  • Changes in routine. November 2025 findings identified inconsistent help for children with limited language during transitions. Ask how staff now prepare a child for the next activity.
  • Responsive teaching. Staff understanding of child development needed strengthening in November 2025. During a visit, discuss how an activity changes when a child responds unexpectedly.
  • Attendance support. November 2025 findings called for firmer action on attendance barriers. Discuss how the setting would support your family's circumstances and a consistent routine.

The Verdict

Little Buddies suits families who value practical independence, outdoor activity and close relationships with staff. Its November 2025 picture combines supportive care with clear development priorities around teaching, transitions and attendance. Families whose children find changes difficult should give transition support particular weight in their decision.
