Magnetic models, musical play and conversations about what makes each child different give Angels Academy Nursery and Pre-School a recognisable character. At its January 2025 inspection, Ofsted rated it Good and judged safeguarding effective.
Based at The Red Lodge in Hartley Wintney, the nursery has capacity for 60 children aged 0 to 60 months. The inspection picture combines enthusiastic play and close relationships with a clear improvement point: children needed more consistent help with disagreements.
The early years foundation stage sets the requirements for children's learning, development and care, with play supporting their learning. In January 2025, children chose toys and activities and stayed absorbed in their play; magnetic shapes became models of people and animals. Choice had a practical purpose: children could pursue an interest and talk about their creations.
Musical experiences in January 2025 differed by age. Younger children explored instruments and copied actions from familiar rhymes; older children sang and followed movement sequences. Stories also opened conversations about differences in appearance, helping children discuss similarities and differences between themselves and their friends.
In January 2025, key people knew the children well, and children approached staff for affection and comfort when tired. Daily conversations gave parents an account of their child's experiences, alongside ideas for supporting learning at home. That connected nursery activities with family life.
At the January 2025 inspection, Ofsted found that observations and assessment supported children's next steps, but staff did not consistently help children recognise their feelings and resolve small disputes. The improvement required was specific: a more consistent response to behaviour so children could understand expectations and develop emotional control.
Managers provided coaching and training in January 2025, modelling practice to develop staff's teaching and care skills.
The address is The Red Lodge, London Road, Hartley Wintney, Hook, RG27 8HR. Opening hours are 08:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday, across the year.
In January 2025, the nursery provided funded early education for two-, three- and four-year-olds. This is a dated account of participation rather than a promise of a funded place.
Angels Academy suits families seeking weekday, year-round childcare, with an inspection-era picture of imaginative play, music and close adult relationships. The clearest point to explore is how consistently staff help children manage disagreements. That matters alongside the activities: it shapes how comfortably children continue playing together.
