Outdoor access was a clear strength at that visit. Children used designated garden areas and older children managed their own outdoor clothing. Trips to shops for baking ingredients and to a local theatre connected activities with the neighbourhood. Ofsted nevertheless asked leaders to plan the outdoor area more consistently so every child received equally rich learning.

Children were settled and confident in January 2023, with staff using home-language words, signs and visual prompts for children learning English. High expectations supported boundaries, turn-taking and helping others. Parent communication was also a strength at the time. Children learned social expectations in concrete ways. Toddlers took turns, while older children invited friends into play and waited for the instrument. Independence was not separated from cooperation.

At the same visit, recruitment arrangements included ongoing suitability checks, and temporary staff received an induction. Designated safeguarding leads understood their protective responsibilities. These were inspection-time safeguards, not evidence that can resolve the reporting and record-keeping concerns found in 2025.

Safeguarding was effective at the 2023 inspection, but families should read that alongside the later regulatory record described above. Ofsted also asked staff to improve interactions by allowing children more time to answer questions. Settling, key-person, SEND, sleep, meals and parent-update arrangements remain open practical questions.
