Clowns Nursery Care is a large Golders Green day nursery for children aged one to five, with capacity for 140 children. Its strongest documented qualities are warm relationships, purposeful language teaching and practical outdoor experiences.
Ofsted judged the nursery Good in September 2022, with Good judgements across education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management. Safeguarding arrangements were effective at that inspection.
In September 2022, language ran through everyday play. Adults built vocabulary into ordinary play and routines; younger children also chose books and took an active part in stories and rhymes. That gave them repeated chances to connect language with shared attention. The Early Years Foundation Stage sets the areas of learning and development. In practical terms, play, conversation and routines build communication, physical, social and early academic skills rather than following school-style lessons. At this inspection, that translated into adults extending vocabulary during play and children testing ideas with real materials.
Outdoor learning was active and practical at that visit. Children changed into outdoor clothing to play in all weathers, with sensory play and gardening among the experiences inspectors saw. Older children took part in physical, drama, yoga, music and movement activities outdoors. This combination gave children reasons to move, listen, cooperate and express ideas in different ways rather than separating learning into subjects.
Relationships were a clear strength in September 2022. Staff reassured newer and younger children as they settled, and mealtimes for babies and younger children were social occasions with adults sitting alongside them over warm food. Parents received detailed learning information that helped them continue vocabulary and learning at home.
Support for children with special educational needs and disabilities was strong at that inspection. Tailored planning and specialist collaboration supported children with additional needs. Leaders also tested staff knowledge through scenario questions, while training, supervision and appraisal supported practice. The approach matters because a written policy is useful only when practitioners can apply it to a real situation. Visual timetables and songs helped older children understand routines, giving them predictable cues for what happened next.
A later regulatory call in August 2024 followed a significant event. Ofsted recorded that the nursery had improved allergy-safety processes, strengthened risk assessments and arranged further staff training, addressing the requirements identified.
The nursery is at Cinderella Path, 153 North End Road, Golders Green, London NW11 7HZ. It cares for children from 12 to 60 months and has 140 places in total. That capacity makes this a substantially sized setting, while the recorded age range covers the period from early toddlerhood through the preschool year.
Families should ask the nursery directly for current provider-specific prices and charge details. Families comparing attendance should distinguish a full-day requirement from a half-day requirement and make sure the booking arrangement covers the particular weekdays they need. This is a practical fit question, not a judgement on the nursery's educational quality.
Clowns Nursery Care has a convincing inspection-era picture of kind relationships, strong language work and outdoor experiences that move beyond generic free play. It is best suited to families who value a large setting with energetic outdoor learning, language-rich interaction and careful communication between home and nursery, while parents of younger children should probe how adult-led group times have evolved since 2022. The booking pattern needs to fit the family's required days and hours, and the response to the 2024 allergy event deserves a direct conversation where this affects a child.
Ofsted judged it Good in September 2022. Inspectors found effective safeguarding, strong language support, warm settling relationships and strong support for children with special educational needs and disabilities.

In September 2022, gardening and all-weather outdoor play sat alongside drama, yoga, music and movement activities.
Families should ask the nursery which funded entitlements it delivers for their child's age and how funded hours are arranged.
Ask which days and session patterns are offered for the child's age, then check these against the family's working week and the nursery's annual closures.
