Comparing pieces by shape, size and colour also joined mathematical vocabulary to hands-on construction. Signing themselves in added another everyday responsibility. Together, those routines gave children repeated chances to choose, speak and complete manageable tasks for themselves.

Secure routines helped children settle in July 2023, and staff knew them well enough to support friendships. Kind adult modelling encouraged cooperative behaviour; children were confident, independent and well behaved. Parents also had a practical role. Workshops covered wellbeing and healthy eating, while families helped establish food and clothes banks for the local community.

Safeguarding was effective at the inspection. Staff understood referral procedures and a range of safeguarding concerns, and management monitored their continuing suitability. Leadership had a clear vision, mandatory training and regular team meetings. The sharper development point was supervision: meetings did not always concentrate precisely enough on extending teaching knowledge and skill.
