The curriculum observed in September 2024 was ambitious and built on children's strengths. Planned activities gave practitioners clear opportunities to extend learning. Self-chosen play mattered too because resources were within reach, so children could pursue an idea rather than wait for an adult to select an activity. Adult interaction was less consistent during child-led play, especially in the garden, and mathematics teaching did not always extend counting effectively.

Behaviour was another positive. Children played purposefully, handled routines happily and understood what was expected of them. The mix of adult-led teaching and independent choice gives this pre-school a balanced base, but the quality of conversation during independent play is the point for families to probe.

Daily handovers helped staff adapt care, and children received time and reassurance as they settled. They sought practitioners when they needed comfort and followed familiar routines such as washing hands before fruit at snack time. Parents received daily conversations and uploaded photographs about learning and achievements.

At the September 2024 inspection, safeguarding arrangements were effective and children's interests came first. Leaders also worked with parents, staff and outside professionals to arrange individual help and use additional funding for children who needed it.

Communication support was woven into ordinary activity rather than confined to a formal exercise. Clear speech, sounds, actions and repetition helped younger children and those learning English hear language in several ways. Cultural activities drew on children's home lives, giving families' languages and backgrounds a meaningful place in the setting rather than treating inclusion as a label.

Leadership had a sound structure: supervision, training and modelling were in place. The remaining task was consistency, ensuring every practitioner used child-led moments and early mathematics as deliberately as the strongest planned sessions.
