The May 2025 findings also make the outdoor offer a key question for families: children had some chances to be active indoors and away from the setting, yet they needed more consistent outdoor challenge to build gross-motor confidence and learn to manage suitable risks.

Strong attachments helped children feel safe and secure in May 2025. Coordinated, tailored support helped children with additional learning needs make good progress at that time. Leaders also arranged extra support promptly for children with special educational needs and disabilities.

Parents received learning information and ideas to use at home. Children ate healthy meals and snacks, washed their hands with explanations about why this mattered, and learned clear expectations around kindness, sharing and turn-taking.
