Future Stars Nursery

Future Stars Nursery is a 58-place setting for children from birth to five at 157 Preston Road, Wembley. Its clearest strength is the quality of children's everyday engagement: in March 2024, Ofsted found children happy, settled and absorbed in an interesting curriculum, and judged the nursery Good overall.

The same inspection found effective safeguarding and good teaching, behaviour, personal development and leadership. A later May 2024 compliance record followed an incident notified by the provider. Ofsted found that some requirements had not been met, but recorded that the provider had already acted, improved its understanding of local safeguarding procedures and remained registered.

The strongest published picture is of learning built around children's interests. In March 2024, an interest in animals led to stories and farm-animal art, while older children discussed dental health. Pretend play included taking orders and making meals in a restaurant; another activity asked children to design houses for the three pigs and compare their strength.

The Early Years Foundation Stage is the curriculum framework here: play, conversation and practical activity connected communication, early mathematics, literacy, physical development and social confidence. Children also moved between indoor and outdoor play, using a low obstacle course, hoops, wheeled toys and a small trampoline.

The outdoor observations add useful texture. Children balanced on the low course, handled hoops and wheeled toys safely, and used umbrellas during rainy play, even offering cover to friends and staff. These examples matter because they show physical challenge and consideration for others happening through ordinary play rather than as separate exercises. Staff also joined children in pretend play, using open-ended questions to extend creativity and imagination while children shaped the direction of the activity. Indoors, lunchtime helpers set tables proudly, while messy-play aprons and independent tissue use turned routines into chances to practise self-care.

Relationships appeared warm and purposeful at the 2024 inspection. Toddlers showed excitement in play, older children interacted well with adults and friends, and parents valued staff's knowledge of individual needs and the information shared about children's days. Work with other professionals helped staff adapt activities for children with SEND and those receiving additional funding.

Children practised independence by putting on aprons, using tissues and helping to set tables. The picture was positive but not flawless. Inspectors also identified two priorities: staff should allow more thinking time after questions, and group activities should be planned more closely around each child's age and stage.

Leadership had also changed practice after the previous inspection. Ofsted recorded expert guidance, mentoring, supervision and focused professional development behind the improvement. The useful question is whether coaching now keeps questioning and group planning improving, rather than relying only on the overall grade.

Good behaviour was another consistent theme. Children showed kindness towards friends, adults and their surroundings, and the rain-play example made that observation tangible. For a parent, this shows that social development was woven through routines and shared play. The remaining test is consistency: longer pauses after questions and better-matched group work would help every child participate, especially those who need more processing time or find a large shared activity difficult.

Session choices require direct clarification, including whether morning, afternoon or full-day attendance can be combined. A written quotation should set out the booking model, funded-entitlement arrangements, meals, consumables and prices.

• Current safeguarding practice. Ask how the learning from the May 2024 compliance action is embedded in induction, supervision and incident handling now.
• Group activities. Discuss how staff adapt shared activities for children at different developmental stages and give quieter children time to answer.
• The practical offer. Confirm current sessions, minimum attendance, closures, funding delivery, meals and consumables before comparing the total weekly commitment.

Future Stars Nursery has a detailed recent inspection picture: engaged children, strong behaviour, imaginative play and inclusive work with other professionals. The later compliance action deserves a direct conversation, even though Ofsted recorded corrective action and continued registration. It will suit families who value interest-led learning and inclusive practice, once the current attendance, booking and cost arrangements are clear to them.
