The breadth is practical: bodies, hands, language and imagination all receive attention through experiences children can actively join.

Outdoor learning was less consistent. Some activities lacked enough purpose and challenge for children who preferred learning outside, and those children could lose interest quickly. Ofsted therefore asked leaders to enrich the outdoor offer and make its learning opportunities more demanding.

The key-person system gave settling a clear structure. Staff shared daily information with parents, and leaders worked with families and outside professionals when children's needs changed. Support for children with SEND was a particular strength in September 2024, with leaders acting promptly.

Children washed their hands before meals and after messy activities, while staff modelled good manners and gently reinforced sharing and turn-taking. That linked personal care with considerate behaviour and made expectations understandable for children. Children developed an understanding of kindness, rather than simply following instructions in the moment.

Safeguarding arrangements were effective at the 2024 inspection. Leaders maintained an open safeguarding culture centred on children's interests, and the long-serving team received training and continuing development. Staff felt supported and worked well together, which gives the key-person relationships a stronger organisational base.
