Outdoor learning had real substance at the inspection. Children ran, balanced and jumped in the garden, used the climbing frame and joined in with action songs. Nature walks in the park led to looking for insects, watching seasonal change and making an autumn collage from collected leaves. The implication is a day that uses physical activity and local outdoor space to build vocabulary, confidence and knowledge of the world.

Language and imagination were also visible. Older children joined familiar phrases while listening to Jake and Tizzy, while younger children used water, citrus fruits and herbs to make potions. A next step was to introduce counting and mathematical language more consistently during play. It is a precise improvement point alongside the Good judgement, rather than a general criticism of the programme.

In November 2024, staff gave children cuddles and reassurance and supported cooperative play, sharing and turn-taking. A consistent routine used familiar songs to signal tidy-up time, while older children cleared lunch boxes and practised simple self-care. These are small routines, but they are the building blocks of confidence and independence.
