Inclusion is the reason to look here. At its report card inspection on 31 March 2026, Ofsted judged inclusion to be a strong standard, ahead of the expected standard reached in the other five areas graded, and recorded the safeguarding standards as met.

The nursery occupies part of Holmesdale Football Club on Oakley Road, BR2 8HQ, with 50 places in total for children from one year to four. Funded hours can be taken term-time or stretched across 50 weeks.

Learning follows the Early Years Foundation Stage, the statutory framework every early years provider in England must meet for children from birth to five. In practice that means seven areas of learning, from communication and language to literacy and mathematics, built through play and tracked by watching what a child does next rather than by formal lessons.

Two optional weekly programmes sit on top of that week, each carrying a weekly charge. Forest School is the widely established outdoor-learning approach: repeated supervised sessions in a natural setting where children climb, dig, build and explore, with the learning drawn from the place itself. Buzzers is named in the nursery's published charges as an optional weekly programme, so what it involves is a question for a visit.

Age groups worked at three speeds in March 2026. Babies explored water and toy animals to familiar nursery rhymes and built towers; toddlers shifted items between containers with tweezers and named colours and shapes; pre-school children followed instructions through yoga to build concentration, strength and flexibility. Nature walks and community outings take the same learning outside.

Emerging needs are picked up early through observation and assessment, so children with special educational needs, and children facing other barriers to learning, receive targeted support and timely intervention. A sensory room gives a child who needs calm somewhere to go, small-group work is planned and personalised, and leaders coordinate with parents and outside agencies so that support joins up.

Relationships carry the rest of the day. Children are greeted warmly, settle quickly into familiar routines, and staff respond sensitively with reassurance and encouragement. Turn-taking and sharing come out of games played in large groups. Families are drawn into the year through sports day, graduation day, and Mother's Day and Father's Day events.

Funded hours are published in five patterns: 9am to 12pm, 1pm to 4pm, 8am to 1pm, 1pm to 6pm and 8am to 6pm, each available term-time or stretched over 50 weeks.

Five funded streams are accepted: working-family hours for under-twos, Together for 2s, two-year-old working-family hours, and the universal and working-family entitlements for three- and four-year-olds. Hours beyond an entitlement are charged at an hourly rate, and a deposit is taken and returned at the end of the first term. Snacks carry an optional daily charge, as do wipes, sun cream and nappy sacks: neither food nor consumables is folded into the headline rate. • The joins between activities. In March 2026 mealtimes were the weak point: children sometimes waited for extended periods without anything purposeful to do, and leaders were asked to reorganise transition times. Ask how the run-up to lunch works now.
• Adult talk that extends thinking. The same report card found that staff do not always use interactions to extend children's thinking, and that coaching and mentoring need strengthening. Listen to what a practitioner says when a child gets stuck.
• Shaping the week you want. Where a nursery cannot cover a whole week, families often take part-week or partial-day patterns, or days that were not their first choice, and splitting a child across two settings is common and costly in upheaval.

Leaders here know where the setting is strong and where it is not. Inclusion is what distinguishes it: needs are spotted early, support is targeted and timely, and a sensory room and personalised small-group work stand behind that. The unfinished work sits in the quieter joins of the day. It suits families of children with additional needs above all, and it serves a three-hour morning or afternoon as readily as a ten-hour day.
