Independence is built into ordinary routines. Snack preparation, dressing and tidying gave children repeated chances to practise age-appropriate self-help. Ofsted's improvement point was equally practical: support for children to manage personal care, including some toilet routines, needed to be more consistent. Leaders were also asked to broaden children's understanding of communities beyond their own and give their interests more consistent expression.
