Kido Camden

Kido Camden combines an international learning flavour with a clear emphasis on language, physical development and practical independence. The nursery is registered for children from three months to five years at the Spiritualist Temple, Rochester Square, London NW1 9RY, with 76 registered places.

Its June 2021 Ofsted inspection judged it Good in every assessed area and found safeguarding effective. That evidence is now dated, and a later compliance action published in March 2026 matters too: the provider had notified Ofsted of safety and welfare concerns, then strengthened how staff oversee activities and evaluate safety for different developmental stages. It remained registered.

The Early Years Foundation Stage gives the underlying structure: play and adult-guided experiences build communication, physical, personal and early academic skills from each child's starting point. In June 2021, staff planned from what individual children could already do and what they needed to learn next. A practitioner who noticed a child counting only four objects worked repeatedly with five beads until the child succeeded independently. This was teaching rooted in close observation, not a generic activity timetable.

STEM and languages gave the inspected curriculum much of its character. Preschool children used scientific vocabulary during an experiment, while songs and books expanded language. Children also encountered Mandarin, Italian and Spanish, communicated internationally and celebrated festivals. Physical learning progressed by stage: babies crawled and cruised; toddlers used balls, bikes and a bridge; preschool children balanced, jumped and practised different throws.

Relationships were a strength in June 2021. Staff used children's home languages where helpful, shared care and learning updates through an app, held meetings with parents and involved families in nursery improvement. SEND support also drew on external agencies and professionals, with additional support or funding used effectively. Those partnerships gave staff more ways to respond to an individual child's development.

Safeguarding was effective at that inspection: staff understood how to respond to welfare concerns, received regular training and quizzes, and leaders used recruitment and ongoing-suitability checks. The later 2026 action should nevertheless be part of a family's current conversation with the nursery. Ofsted recorded that the provider strengthened how staff oversee activities and evaluate safety for different developmental stages.

One developmental weakness was specific. Toddlers explored emotions through the book Colour Monster, but some did not yet have enough language to communicate their needs and became frustrated. Ofsted asked leaders to improve the systems supporting that communication.

The registered age range is three months to five years. The input record lists weekday opening hours of 7.30am to 6.30pm and describes the setting as open all year, closing for bank holidays, Christmas and Easter. The record describes full day care and marks half-day sessions as offered. It does not define the half-day timetable or booking conditions, so families need the nursery’s current terms and a provider-specific quotation before choosing a pattern.

The full-day model may work for longer working days, while the recorded half-day option may suit families seeking shorter attendance. Current terms will determine how either pattern fits a family’s week.

• Current regulatory response. Ofsted recorded in March 2026 that the provider had reviewed risk assessments and supervision after requirements were not met. The nursery can explain what changed in daily practice and how leaders now check that those changes remain effective.
• Toddler communication. The 2021 inspection identified support for toddlers to express their needs as the improvement point. Families considering a toddler place need to understand how this is handled now.
• Attendance and costs. Opening hours are recorded, but current session products, funding delivery and included extras are not verified. The current half-day timetable, booking conditions and full terms are essential before comparing the setting with alternatives.

Kido Camden is best suited to families drawn to an international, language-rich approach and concrete early learning, from STEM experiments to progressive physical play. The 2021 inspection evidence shows thoughtful teaching, strong parent partnership and effective SEND work. Its age now limits how confidently it describes present practice, while the resolved 2026 compliance action deserves direct discussion. It may suit families considering either full-day care or the recorded half-day option, provided they scrutinise the current safety systems, exact session terms and cost structure.
