A City of London setting with 72 places, The Children's Centre Goldman Sachs operates from 1 Plumtree Court, 25 Shoe Lane. Its March 2022 full inspection judged it Good across education, behaviour, personal development and leadership. That evidence is now more than four years old, so the detail below describes the setting at that visit and does not establish current routines.
In June 2026, Ofsted also issued an organisation-wide Welfare Requirements Notice to Bright Horizons Family Solutions Limited after concerns about safeguarding consistency across its provision. Ofsted stressed that the action did not reflect concerns at every setting, but the required actions had not been recorded as completed in the supplied June document.
In March 2022, children confidently chose activities in a safe, clean and well-organised environment. Staff planned from children's interests and development, while lunch responsibilities such as serving food and pouring water built independence. Stories, rhymes and songs put communication at the centre of learning. Children learning English as an additional language used home-language words and dual-language books.
Daily local-park outings were a practical strength at that inspection. Children ran, changed direction, stretched and searched for natural objects, while staff used the journey to teach road safety. This gave physical development, curiosity and personal responsibility a place in ordinary routines.
The Early Years Foundation Stage shapes English early education through areas of learning developed in play and adult-guided experiences. In March 2022, this meant communication through stories and songs, physical development in the park, and independence during lunch routines.
Children were happy and secure in March 2022, and parents valued advice, learning updates and ideas to use at home. Staff gathered information even for children attending irregularly, helping them plan around individual needs and interests. Inspectors found safeguarding effective at that visit.
There was one clear teaching improvement: some staff needed to simplify their language and model vocabulary more accurately for younger children. The 2026 organisation-wide safeguarding action also makes current local implementation an important point for families to explore.
The centre is at 1 Plumtree Court, 25 Shoe Lane, London EC4A 4AU, with 72 places in total. Families need a current provider-specific written quotation for prices.
The strongest branch-specific picture comes from March 2022: independent children, thoughtful language support and purposeful park outings in a setting judged Good. The age of that inspection and the unresolved status of the June 2026 organisation-wide safeguarding action prevent a simple present-day endorsement. This setting may suit City of London families who value outdoor activity and individual planning, provided its current attendance offer and safeguarding response meet their needs.
In March 2022, Ofsted judged the setting Good overall and found safeguarding effective. The report highlighted secure children, good progress, independence and daily park outings, while asking staff to simplify language for younger children.
The current record gives the centre 72 places in total.
At the March 2022 inspection, stories, rhymes, songs, dual-language books, lunch responsibilities and daily local-park outings supported communication, independence and physical development.
