Building Blocks Kids Nursery's clearest strength is the way relationships support learning. Ofsted judged the provision Good in July 2023, after finding children secure with staff, motivated to explore and confident in leading their own play. In July 2023, this was a full-day setting at 413 High Road in Tottenham. Children attending at the time were aged one to four, and the nursery had 24 children on roll.

The Early Years Foundation Stage shapes learning through play across communication, physical development, personal and social development, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world and expressive arts. In July 2023, that broad approach was visible in number matching, sensory water painting and group activities in which children examined objects and described what they could see and hear.

Children could choose songs during circle time, while those still developing speech selected an object representing the song they wanted. Staff introduced precise vocabulary during everyday moments, describing fruit as juicy, crunchy and sweet. Visual aids helped children understand what would happen next. The strongest practical implication is a day that combined child-led choice with purposeful adult input.

Relationships were a real asset at the inspection. Friends and staff used a welcome song for each child, older children encouraged one another when something was difficult, and staff knew children's interests and individual needs. Inspectors also found that gaps in learning were identified early and that children with special educational needs and disabilities received individualised help, supported by work with other professionals.

Healthy meals and physical development were both observed. Children ran, jumped, practised throwing and catching outdoors, then developed smaller movements by carefully threading cotton reels. Future Reception teachers were invited to observe children and discuss individual needs, while staff planned support in some new schools during the transition.

In July 2023, the setting operated Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 6.30pm for 51 weeks a year, closing on bank holidays and over Christmas. Families should treat these as inspection-date operating details rather than a current booking pattern.

• Critical thinking. In 2023, staff did not always ask questions that stretched children's reasoning when problems arose. Parents may want to explore how practitioners now encourage children to explain, predict and solve problems.
