Early Stars Preschool Nursery

Early Stars Preschool Nursery is a small Tottenham setting with capacity for 23 children from birth to age five. There was plenty of purposeful detail indoors too. Children made shapes with play dough and used the mark-making area, while lively story reading encouraged them to act out narratives. Dentist role play and tooth-brushing activities made oral health concrete rather than abstract.

Relationships gave care a dependable shape: staff understood each child’s needs, while accessible leaders kept information moving between home and the setting. Parents valued daily feedback, discussions about next steps and practical ideas for continuing learning at home.

Visual rules supported sharing and turn-taking. For children with SEND, key people used visual timetables to help with transitions, while staff worked with local-authority teams and health visitors on targeted support.

Two development points matter. The December 2024 findings asked the nursery to make early-literacy teaching consistently accurate, including how letter sounds are modelled, and to give children more time to manage tasks independently rather than stepping in too soon.
