Triangle Children, Young People and Community Centre

This council-owned early years setting at Triangle Children's Centre, 91 St Ann's Road, has capacity for 102 children. Its latest published inspection, dated 28 April 2026, is the decisive fact for families: Ofsted judged every evaluated area to need urgent improvement. Safeguarding standards were met, but the setting did not meet Compulsory Childcare Register requirements and Ofsted said it intended to take enforcement action.

It operates on weekdays throughout most of the year. Its suitability for different attendance needs depends on the current written offer.

The April 2026 picture was an uneven day. Children had varied resources indoors, while outdoor play gave them opportunities to develop physical skills. Toddlers were beginning to use the potty independently, while older children poured their own drinks. These are useful opportunities for physical development and self-care.

However, teaching did not build systematically on children's existing knowledge. Activities were not planned closely enough around what children needed to learn next, and adult interaction was inconsistent. Adult support was uneven for some babies during group storytelling, and outdoor provision was not equally accessible to every child who needed additional help.

The setting follows the Early Years Foundation Stage because it is registered for early years provision. In practical terms, that framework should connect play, communication, physical development and personal development to clear next steps. This connection was not secure in April 2026.

Safeguarding standards were met in April 2026, and staff understood safeguarding procedures. That positive sits alongside serious weaknesses in daily care. Leaders did not ensure all staff understood children's allergies and special dietary requirements, staff deployment did not consistently support effective supervision, and the key-person system did not reliably meet children's emotional needs.

Support for children with SEND was a major concern. Plans were ineffective, staff lacked the training to use the graduated approach and communication strategies, and information was not shared consistently with parents and professionals. Children were also not consistently helped to share, take turns or understand boundaries. For a child needing additional support, the current SEND plan, named strategies and staffing arrangements are essential decision points.

Attendance was monitored daily through an app, with parents contacted about lateness or absence. Staff shared some information about children's time at the setting, although partnership working was inconsistent.

The setting is at Triangle Children's Centre, 91 St Ann's Road, London N15 6NU. It operates Monday to Friday and closes for the August bank-holiday week and one week at Christmas. Obtain the current written offer before comparing attendance patterns.
