This is an after-school club for children from St Aidan's Primary School, rather than a day nursery. It operates from the school on Stapleton Hall Road in London. The inspection captured a club where children could shift from the structure of the school day into board games, pretend play and physical activity. Staff combined a relaxed atmosphere with clear expectations for behaviour.

In February 2023, children aged five to 11 attended the club. The provision planned for the seven areas of learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage for younger children. For a child, that meant play and activities spanning communication, physical development, relationships, literacy, maths, understanding the world and expressive arts, shaped around themes, festivals and their own interests.

Familiar games carried real learning value. Children played Guess Who? with friends, while staff stepped back during snakes and ladders so children could count and work out simple additions independently. All About Me cards gave children space to record favourite films, practise writing personal details and create self-portraits. This made children's own interests visible in the club.

Outdoor activity formed part of the session. Indoors, children could choose between active play, board games and caring for dolls in pretend play.

Relationships were a strength at the February 2023 visit. Staff joined children's play positively, encouraged them to persist when a task became difficult and helped them practise taking turns. Children behaved well, shared and contributed their views.

Communication connected the club, school and home. Staff exchanged information with teachers about children's day and passed relevant messages to parents. Parents were also consulted about improvements.

Food experiences were practical. Children made wraps using cheese, chicken, cucumber and peppers, and were encouraged to taste hummus and olives. Hygiene routines included handwashing before eating, food activities and after using the toilet.

Safeguarding arrangements were effective in February 2023. Staff understood local reporting procedures and indicators of harm, while daily checks covered indoor and outdoor safety. The manager also used safeguarding quizzes to refresh staff knowledge.

Sessions and Attendance

The inspected provision collected children from St Aidan's Primary School. In February 2023, the after-school club ran Monday to Friday from 3.15pm to 6.15pm during term time. Families should treat these as inspection-date arrangements when considering current attendance.

Board games, self-portrait work, outdoor activity and food preparation gave children choices while staff maintained clear behavioural expectations. It is best suited to St Aidan's families needing a term-time, weekday after-school club, rather than nursery care or a choice of morning and full-day sessions.
