The Early Years Foundation Stage shapes learning across communication, physical development, personal and social development, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world and expressive arts. Here, the inspected curriculum put children's interests and needs at its centre. Speech and language carried special weight: staff modelled varied vocabulary throughout the morning, including for children learning English as an additional language.

Mathematics was folded into play rather than isolated. In the shopping role-play area, staff counted eggs with children and explored words such as bigger and smaller. Independence had the same practical character, with children pouring water, cutting fruit and wiping their own noses.

Two named experiences give the inspected morning its own identity. The golden rules set behaviour expectations and were revisited daily, while dentist visits supported learning about healthy bodies alongside nutritious food and exercise.

Relationships are a clear strength. Children chose a key person according to whom they connected with, and parents told inspectors this helped them settle easily. Inspectors linked the stable staff team with familiar support and secure attachments.

Safeguarding arrangements were effective in May 2024. Children also talked and sang about feelings each morning, waited for turns and listened to one another. The inspection asked the provider to strengthen how staff help children understand gender roles, differences and similarities.

All Saints Pre School is sessional day care for two-, three- and four-year-olds. The inspected pattern was one morning session, Monday to Friday from 9am to midday, in school term time. The provider received funding to offer free early education for these ages.
