The strongest thread was confidence built through ordinary choices. Children poured their own drinks, helped tidy toys and chose how to play, while staff praised effort and positive behaviour. That combination gave children room to practise independence with adults close by.

In September 2022, learning mixed purposeful adult interaction with practical play. Children threaded pasta into caterpillars to strengthen the small muscles used later in writing. During sensory play with coloured beans and water, staff introduced descriptive vocabulary, turning exploration into a language-building activity.

The curriculum followed the Early Years Foundation Stage. In parent terms, this means play and routines are used to develop communication, physical skills, personal development and the foundations for later literacy and mathematics. Staff observed children regularly and planned next steps from their interests and learning needs.

Physical development had a clear place. Regular outdoor opportunities supported a broad range of gross-motor skills. Indoors and outside, staff created opportunities to move rather than limiting physical learning to one part of the day.

That dated picture also showed strong relationships. Staff comforted new children when they became upset, and children developed confidence to try unfamiliar activities. Staff also worked with other professionals to support children with SEND and used information from parents to decide what each child should learn next.

Communication with families extended beyond handovers. Parents described being involved in learning and using home learning packs with their children. Inspectors found safeguarding arrangements effective: staff understood signs of possible harm and local reporting procedures, while recruitment, premises security and risk assessment were handled appropriately.

There were two clear improvement points. Staff had visual aids for non-verbal children but did not use them consistently, so some children could not anticipate what came next. The second asked the setting to strengthen children's understanding of healthy food choices.

The setting runs Monday to Friday during term time, from 9am to 3pm, and closes for school holidays and staff training days.

Funded early education was provided for two-, three- and four-year-olds. Families should request a current written quotation that sets out funded entitlement, privately paid hours and any charges.
