Woodford Pre-School Playgroup

Woodford Pre-School Playgroup is a small, mornings-only setting with a strong community identity. The Early Years Foundation Stage shapes weekly planning and staff observations. In practical terms, staff track how children develop across communication, physical development and personal, social and emotional learning, then plan experiences that build on their interests. Learning Journals bring together work, observations and children's own words; each journal goes home when its child leaves.

Outdoor play takes place in a large garden. In March 2023, children also used trikes, ribbon streamers and an indoor assault course when wet weather kept them inside. Stories and music had equal presence: staff brought We're Going on a Bear Hunt to life through actions, and children practised listening by starting and stopping their instruments together.

Every child has a key person who supports settling, monitors progress and discusses development with parents.
