A purpose-built Baby Room gives Little Nipperz in Mayland a clear practical character: care for younger children sits alongside preschool provision and clubs around the school day. These are different arrangements for different stages of family life. The baby provision operates across 51 weeks, while preschool has its own daytime window.
Ofsted rated Little Nipperz Good at its inspection on 14 June 2021. That judgement predates the Baby Room addition announced for September 2024, so it should be read with that timing in mind rather than treated as an assessment of the newer space.
Little Nipperz has capacity for 26 children in total. Its Mayland services cover children aged 12 weeks to 11 years, spanning early years care and provision for school-aged children; that age range does not describe a single nursery group.
The Baby Room is purpose-built, giving the youngest children a space designed specifically for their stage rather than simply extending preschool provision downwards. Its opening hours are 8am to 6pm, across 51 weeks of the year. For parents considering baby care, the combination of a separate named room and an extended opening window is the clearest practical feature here.
Preschool operates from 9am to 3pm. It is a different part of the offer from the Baby Room, with a shorter daytime pattern that may fit families seeking preschool attendance rather than care across the whole opening window.
The EYFS sets common standards for early childhood education. Its learning and development span physical skills, communication and personal, social and emotional growth: everyday play helps children develop movement, express themselves and relate to others. This is the shared foundation for early years provision, rather than an extra programme unique to Little Nipperz.
School-aged children have another attendance route through Breakfast Club and After School Club. Keeping those clubs separate from the early years offer matters when comparing arrangements for siblings: the relevant hours depend on the service being booked, rather than one timetable applying to every child.
Mayland's Local Offer addresses disability, development and special educational needs. Families can discuss its contents individually by telephone or email, creating a specific route for talking through a child's needs rather than relying solely on a general enquiry.
That is useful preparation for a conversation about support, but the important decision is how the arrangements relate to the individual child. A family considering the Baby Room and a family arranging preschool attendance may have different priorities, even within the same setting.
A private Mayland Facebook group provides another channel for parent communication. It covers activities, announcements, parents' evenings and important dates, with reminders and opportunities for families to ask questions. For parents balancing childcare with school routines, that gives routine updates a separate place alongside direct telephone and email contact.
Preschool runs from 9am to 3pm. Breakfast Club is from 7.30am to 8.40am, and After School Club from 3pm to 6pm. These named patterns give families a concrete basis for comparing preschool attendance with care around the school day.
The Baby Room opens from 8am to 6pm and operates for 51 weeks each year. Sessions can be arranged within that window to meet family needs; the opening hours themselves should not be mistaken for a single compulsory booking pattern.
The nursery's address is Katonia Avenue, Mayland, Chelmsford, CM3 6AD. Its Mayland contact address uses The Drive, Mayland, Chelmsford, CM3 6AB; the practical implication of those different address details is covered below.
Mayland enquiries can be made by telephone on 01621 741541 or by email at Mayland@LittleNipperz.co.uk. These are the branch's direct contact routes for discussing an application.
Little Nipperz Mayland accepts Early Years Funding and Tax Free Childcare. These are separate forms of support, so the childcare arrangement and the funding route need to be considered together. Current prices come in the nursery's written quotation.
Little Nipperz suits families considering Pre-School attendance, Breakfast Club or After School Club, with a purpose-built Baby Room adding a further option for younger children. The separate service windows make the offer more useful than a single headline opening time. Its Good judgement provides a dated inspection reference; the newer baby provision deserves its own careful consideration.
