In June 2022, pretend building work, ice-cube investigations and a turn as the cook's helper gave I Learn Education Brigg its character: children’s ideas became opportunities to talk, experiment and take responsibility. At its June 2022 inspection, Ofsted rated the nursery Outstanding, finding that its education helped children make progress through engaging experiences shaped around their interests.
The nursery has capacity for 49 children, with an accepted age range from birth to five years. Its address is 2 Wesley Road, Brigg, DN20 8TR. For parents, the strongest thread in the dated account is the connection between independence and learning: children were given time to try things themselves, rather than simply follow an adult’s instructions.
The early years foundation stage sets the requirements for children’s learning, development and care. In everyday terms, that means opportunities to develop movement, communication and social skills alongside early learning through play. The June 2022 examples show how these strands could come together within an activity a child had chosen.
Toddlers combined water, containers, tubes and bricks in pretend construction work in June 2022. Adults introduced vocabulary connected with what they were doing, including the word labourer. This made language part of an absorbing task, giving children something concrete to connect a new word to.
Older children’s interest in ice cubes developed into making an igloo. They considered its shape, chose where its entrance would go and discussed materials for the roof. These June 2022 experiences gave children decisions to make and problems to solve, with construction becoming a reason to exchange ideas.
Physical exploration mattered for younger children too. In June 2022, babies practised standing, reaching and climbing on small foam slides and steps indoors. The equipment gave them opportunities to test movements and make choices about how to use their bodies.
Language work extended beyond conversation. During June 2022, older children practised the sounds in their names, while toddlers blew bubbles. Play dough was another practical tool: children formed happy and sad faces while using the hand movements that would later support writing. Emotional vocabulary and physical practice sat within the same activity.
At the June 2022 inspection, Ofsted found safeguarding effective, praised the key-person arrangements and judged support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) highly effective, including early identification, collaboration with parents and professionals, and the use of additional funding.
In June 2022, key persons talked with families at both ends of the nursery day, shared photographs and offered parents’ evenings for fuller discussions about development. Staff also shared approaches to behaviour that families could use at home. That combination gave parents both everyday contact and opportunities for a more detailed conversation.
Support around separation included the family as well as the child in June 2022. Staff recognised that some babies and toddlers had little experience of spending time with other people following the pandemic. Emotional support during this transition addressed a practical concern for parents starting nursery care.
Small responsibilities also featured in June 2022. Children taking a turn as the cook's helper wore an apron and hat and carried out tasks themselves. It was a concrete way to give a child a useful role, rather than limit participation to watching adults work.
The nursery opens Monday to Friday, from 7.45am to 6pm, across the year. Its Wesley Road address provides the practical starting point for planning care around work and family routines.

I Learn Education Brigg suits families seeking year-round weekday care. Meaningful choices for children were a strength found at its June 2022 inspection. Its June 2022 examples are persuasive because they are concrete: a toddler’s building project becomes a language opportunity, and a small kitchen responsibility becomes practice in independence. The Outstanding judgement is dated, and those examples belong to that period. They give families a clear basis for assessing whether the nursery’s approach fits their child.
