A woodland setting gives Kid Ease, Norwich its strongest physical character. At the County Hall site on Harriet Court, this nursery combines that setting with care from babyhood through the preschool years. Ofsted rated it Good on 17 June 2021. That is a dated judgement, rather than a description of today's daily practice.
There is capacity for 61 children, with an accepted age range of 3 to 60 months. Whole-nursery capacity is useful context for families, but it should not be read as the number of children sharing an individual room. Funded attendance and private paid sessions both form part of the offer.
The woodland setting is a concrete point of interest for families who value outdoor surroundings. It gives this Norwich branch a recognisable character, rather than a learning programme that can be judged from its name alone.
Children follow the EYFS, the required early-years framework that organises their learning and development. It sets the educational programmes children learn through, the early learning goals they work towards and the points at which their development is assessed. The framework itself is a common requirement across registered nurseries.
Additional learning opportunities are included across the session offer. That inclusion matters when comparing different attendance patterns: the charging policy does not reserve those opportunities for children booking a private full day.
Support with additional funding is a practical part of the Norwich offer. The nursery seeks to identify children who could benefit from SEND Inclusion Fund support or other additional funding, working with families and obtaining consent before submitting an application. This provides a route to seeking support; it does not promise that an application will succeed.
For children under two, sessions include creams, selected formula milks and nappies up to size 5. The age and product limits matter, especially for families planning what to bring for a baby. These inclusions also apply across the funded session offer.
The admissions process includes a child's date-of-birth documentation to establish whether they have reached the eligible age for funded entitlement. The nursery does not retain a copy, although the local authority may request the documentation again for audit or fraud-investigation purposes. For families, this separates an age check from a promise of funding: the offer remains subject to eligibility, and the paperwork is part of establishing that eligibility.
Private bookings include a full day from 8am to 6pm, a morning from 8am to 1pm and an afternoon from 1pm to 6pm. There are also flexible, ad hoc crèche bookings from 9am to noon or 1pm to 4pm, outside the funded offer. Those shorter sessions serve a different need from the full-day pattern.
An early-bird service runs from 7.30am to 8am and includes breakfast; late collection runs from 6pm to 6.30pm. These are separately charged extensions, so families using either end of the day need to include them in their childcare budget.
The nursery operates across 51 weeks, five days a week. Funding can be used Monday to Friday in a morning pattern from 8am to 1pm or a day pattern from 10am to 6pm. The funded day therefore starts later than the private full day, an important distinction for a working morning.
The address is 41 Harriet Court, Norwich, Norfolk NR1 2DG, on the County Hall site. The branch can be contacted on 01603 760106 or at norwich@kidease.co.uk.
Free Early Education (FEE) and Free For Twos (FF2) are offered to eligible families. Funded attendance can cover 48 weeks, or 38 weeks for children attending only in term time; this needs to be distinguished from the nursery's operating year.
Lunch is included with private morning bookings, tea with private afternoons, and both with private full days; catered lunches and teas carry separate charges during funded attendance, with alternative arrangements discussed if families opt out. The nursery provides freshly prepared food.
Fees are paid monthly in advance. Changing a booking pattern requires four weeks' notice, so attendance changes need planning rather than a last-minute adjustment. A deposit equivalent to two weeks of fees applies to paid bookings, while funded-only children are exempt; for contracts exceeding funded entitlement, it is returned when the contract ends and outstanding fees have been settled. Current prices come in the nursery's written quotation.
Payment falls due on the first day of each month and covers that month in advance. Families therefore need to plan for the monthly bill at the start of the month, alongside any deposit applicable to their booking.
Parents who believe their child is not receiving the free entitlement correctly can submit a complaint directly to the nursery manager. That gives families a specific route for raising concerns about funded provision, separate from the practical choice between private sessions and funded attendance patterns.
Kid Ease, Norwich suits families weighing full-day attendance against morning or afternoon sessions, with shorter crèche bookings serving another practical need. The woodland setting adds character, while the separation between private hours, funded patterns and paid extensions makes the booking choice consequential. Its Good judgement dates to 2021; the clearest current decision points are the attendance pattern and how its inclusions fit your child's age.
