In November 2025, a forest area and practical school-transition routines gave Rosy Cheeks, Little Sandon a clear character: outdoor play sat alongside preparation for school. At its November 2025 inspection, Ofsted judged inclusion to be Strong standard, the other evaluated areas Expected standard, and safeguarding standards met. There was no overall grade.
The nursery has capacity for 48 children. In November 2025, the children attending were aged two to four; that age range describes the inspection period.
The early years foundation stage brings learning, development and care together, with play supporting children's growing skills. In November 2025, children chose their own play alongside activities adults planned around their next learning steps. Sand, leaves and gloop gave them materials to fill and empty, practising coordination through hands-on exploration.
The forest area added opportunities for balance, climbing and running. Children also practised pedalling bikes, with adults helping when they became unsteady. Familiar routines supported movement between activities: children understood the route to the forest area and responded to a tambourine signal to pause and listen.
Stories and rhymes supported language, while counting and conversations about shapes introduced early mathematics. Teaching varied, however. Some practitioners missed opportunities to deepen children's thinking during freely chosen play, leaving the learning potential of those experiences uneven.
At the November 2025 inspection, Ofsted found that children progressed across their learning, including children with SEND whose support used individual targets, regularly adjusted plans and collaboration with other professionals. This made tailored support a substantial strength of the inspection picture.
During that month, bucket time used simple language and individual words in small-group activities to support communication and attention. At meals, gestures and signs helped some children express whether they wanted food or had finished. Adults responded to unsettled children with affection and comfort.
Health routines included handwashing, help with toileting and prompt nappy changes. Balanced meals were provided throughout the day. Staff supervised outdoor play and intervened when it became unsafe, but support for understanding feelings, independence and the effect of actions on others was inconsistent.
School transition had practical substance. Children preparing to transfer to the school ate in its hall alongside school children, and staff shared information with receiving settings to support continuity.

Rosy Cheeks, Little Sandon suits families who value outdoor activity and practical school preparation. Its November 2025 inspection picture combines strong inclusion with expected standards elsewhere. The clearest reservation is consistency: individual support had substance, but everyday teaching and help with emotions needed closer attention.
The November 2025 judgements were Strong standard for inclusion and Expected standard for the other evaluated areas. Safeguarding standards were met; no overall grade was given.
