Emotional development for younger children and preparation for school for older ones gave Mini Vip's Childcare a clear thread at its February 2025 inspection. At its February 2025 inspection, Ofsted rated the nursery Good, judged safeguarding effective and found that children made good progress from their individual starting points.
Based at Oaklands, 16 Gretton Road, Cheltenham GL54 5EG, the nursery has 60 places for children aged 0 to 60 months. That is whole-setting capacity, rather than the size of a child's daily group.
In February 2025, children chose their own activities and resources, stayed interested in their play and helped put toys away. Independence had practical expression: choosing what to do came alongside caring for the shared space.
The early years foundation stage is the required framework for children's learning, development and care. In February 2025, learning covered its different areas through activities tailored to what individual children needed to learn next. Staff also prepared children for changes between rooms and the move towards school.
Language work took different forms across the ages. In February 2025, staff responded to babies with songs, babbling and conversation; older children explored words for feelings through stories and parachute games. Emotional vocabulary was part of play, giving children ways to express how they felt.
In February 2025, children had close relationships with their key person and received comfort when they needed it. Familiar routines established expectations, while sharing and turn-taking gave children practice in getting along with others.
Care routines also created opportunities for conversation. In February 2025, practitioners explained nappy changes as they happened, while older children learnt self-care, hygiene and healthy eating. Families received updates about development and guidance for supporting learning at home; staff worked with external professionals to support children's development.
The February 2025 inspection identified a specific weakness: staff sometimes gave too little guidance about safe play, including with real-life objects in the home corner and during more adventurous outdoor play. Risk assessments existed, but children also needed clearer instruction in recognising hazards. Staff performance and training needs were reviewed at that time.

In February 2025, the nursery offered government-funded places and also ran breakfast, after-school and holiday clubs for school-age children. These describe the offer at that date.
Mini Vip's Childcare suits families who value emotional development, everyday independence and preparation for school. Its February 2025 practice connected these priorities through conversation, play and self-care. The safety-guidance concern deserves attention: the important question is how consistently adults help children understand the risks in their activities.
