Top Place Preschool

Top Place Preschool is a small Watford setting with capacity for 35 children. School readiness was built through cutting, phonics, self-care, books about school and role play. Inspectors also identified unevenness: younger children's individual interests were not always engaged successfully, and the quality of adult interaction varied between small-group sessions.

Relationships were a strength in February 2022. Staff were attentive, children treated others with care and respect, and parents reported progress in communication alongside a strong community atmosphere. Sending books home connected nursery learning with family time.

Safeguarding arrangements were effective at that inspection. Staff understood signs of abuse and neglect, reporting routes, recruitment and risk assessment. Children with special educational needs and disabilities were identified promptly, with staff working alongside parents and other professionals.
