Eggs, chicks and new life give nursery conversations a concrete starting point at All Saints. Adults use these exchanges to build children’s vocabulary and help them think through ideas. Language runs through the learning.
The nursery belongs to All Saints CofE Primary School on Devon Street in Farnworth. Provision includes children aged two to three, alongside the Nursery year. Little Saints High Needs Base is also part of the school’s early years provision. In March 2026, the specialist provision had 12 places for children aged two to five with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). That figure describes the specialist provision, rather than the nursery as a whole.
Ofsted’s March 2026 judgement for early years was Expected standard. This covers the school’s early years provision, rather than giving the nursery a separate grade.
The early years foundation stage (EYFS) here builds children’s learning through conversation, books and increasing independence. Adults establish what children can already do and use frequent exchanges to develop their language and reasoning. The nursery discussion about chicks is a useful example: a real subject gives children something to describe, question and explain.
Books receive sustained attention, with adults bringing enthusiasm to reading aloud. Across early years, sound teaching includes accurate demonstrations and support with decoding simple words. These are foundations for learning to read. Carpet activities also have clear behaviour expectations, helping children understand how to take part together.
Independence has practical expression. Children learn to get coats on themselves and locate the materials they need. The school also has a forest school site beside its car park, a concrete feature of the wider grounds.
Warm relationships help children feel secure and settle into early years. Emotional learning begins here too: children receive help with resilience, handling feelings and considering the effect of their actions on others.
Within the specialist provision, predictable routines are supported by picture-based schedules and boards used for communication. These give children additional ways to understand the day and express themselves. The provision caters for speech and language needs, autism, emotional and social difficulties, and physical disabilities.
For parents, ParentApp carries school information, while Class Dojo provides class updates and translation into multiple languages. Staff are accessible at classroom doors morning and evening, giving families a regular opportunity to raise concerns. Nursery children receive milk, fruit and a bagel each day. This snack provision carries a charge; contact the school for current charges.
Attending the nursery does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions route by the normal deadline. The school’s admissions page directs families to Bolton Council’s primary admissions service. Treat choosing nursery and applying for Reception as two separate decisions.
Enquiries go through the school office: office@all-saints.bolton.sch.uk or 01204 333083. The school’s clothing guidance includes a red logo sweatshirt or cardigan, a white polo shirt, grey or black bottoms and black shoes.
Collection is from the classroom by an adult. Tell staff when someone different will collect your child. Parents driving to school are asked to keep cars off the premises and avoid the marked parking restrictions outside, so collection arrangements need to account for the streets around the school.
