Questions about identity, celebrations and woodland life give Little Oaks Nursery its character. This is Wyberton Primary Academy’s own nursery, on Saundergate Lane in Wyberton, Boston. Its learning themes start with children themselves before turning towards the world around them, giving parents concrete subjects to talk about at home.
Ofsted graded the school’s early years provision Good at the inspection on 15 and 16 July 2025. That judgement covers early years within the academy; it is not a separate nursery rating. Positive relationships between adults and children were a strength, while developing children’s language through everyday interaction needed attention.
Little Oaks’ themes include What makes me special?, How do we celebrate? and Who lives in the woods? These put personal identity, celebrations and woodland life into the learning conversation. They offer useful starting points for families to discuss what their child has been exploring.
The early years foundation stage (EYFS) encompasses communication, physical development and personal, social and emotional development, alongside literacy, mathematics, understanding the world and expressive arts. For parents, that means looking beyond early reading and counting to how children communicate, move, relate to others and express ideas.
Language during play. In July 2025, adults sometimes missed chances to extend children’s speech and vocabulary. The required improvement covered imaginative play and activities children choose themselves, as well as other early years learning. For families, the practical issue is how adults join a child’s play and help a conversation develop.
In July 2025, early years staff had warm relationships with children, and parents had regular chances to participate in their child’s learning. That gives families a role in the learning process alongside the staff who work with their children.
The academy’s SEND arrangements involve consultation with parents, relevant staff and outside agencies where appropriate. The SEND leader and senior leadership team review progress and adjust support when progress is slower than expected. Families can contact the SEND team by telephone or email, providing a direct route for discussing individual needs.
Food accompanies the optional Tree House Club sessions: breakfast is served until 8:20am, and after-school care includes a light tea around 4pm. These meals belong to the extended care arrangements.
Attending Little Oaks Nursery does not guarantee a Reception place at Wyberton Primary Academy. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions process and meet the deadline for their child’s entry year. Treat that application as a separate task, even while your child attends the nursery.
Tree House Club admits nursery children and is run by school staff. Breakfast Club operates from 8:00am to 8:35am; after-school care runs from 3:15pm until 5:00pm. These are optional care sessions, with charges to confirm with the school.
Booking starts with a request form, also obtainable from the main office. Once a place is agreed, the team sends a termly booking form. Families needing either end of the day should account for that approval step when planning childcare.
