A place within the Wellsway estate gives Chandag’s Nursery and Preschool its wider setting: an extensive school site in Keynsham. The provision forms part of Chandag Primary School, which opened in September 2023 when the infant and junior schools merged. The school takes children from age two.
This is school-attached provision, with the school’s values providing its stated direction: aiming high, respecting others and recognising each child’s individuality. For parents, that places the early years within a broader school identity rather than a separate childcare organisation.
Learning beyond the classroom is one of Chandag’s stated ambitions. The school aims to broaden children’s experiences through an enriched curriculum, including opportunities to learn outside. Its extensive site provides the physical setting for that ambition; the useful distinction is between the school’s overall grounds and any particular nursery activity.
Chandag also describes its curriculum as inclusive and engaging, with the aim of encouraging children to enjoy learning and preparing them for their next steps. Those aims give parents a sense of the educational direction: experiences should extend children’s interests as well as prepare them for later learning.
Partnership with parents is an explicit school priority. Chandag says that working together helps it provide the best for children and their learning. That makes the relationship between home and school part of its stated approach to supporting children, rather than treating education as something that happens only in the classroom.
Respect and recognition of individuality also belong to the school’s stated values. These are useful principles for families considering how their child’s needs and personality fit within a school setting.
A separate application matters. Attending Chandag’s nursery does not guarantee a place in its Reception class. Families must apply again through the normal Reception admissions process and meet the applicable deadline. Choosing nursery provision and securing a school place are separate decisions.
Keep that distinction clear when planning your child’s next step. Familiarity with a school through nursery attendance should not be treated as confirmation of a Reception offer.
