Stories, rhyme and play shaped the advertised launch celebration for Queen’s new Pre-School, planned to open in September 2026. This is provision within an independent girls’ school in Chester. Pre-School has its own entry option on the school’s registration form, distinct from Reception, so families can identify the stage they are considering from the outset.
The Lower School’s address is 55 Liverpool Road, Chester, CH2 1AW. That is the useful address for planning a visit, rather than the Senior School address on City Walls Road.
Stories, Play & Pastries was advertised for 15 May 2026 to celebrate the planned September opening, with play organised around stories. The programme listed gardening, a book exchange and music, alongside an interactive singalong inspired by nature. These were advertised launch activities, rather than a timetable for enrolled children.
For another introduction to the Infant setting, Stay and Play combines number games, rhymes and art with a snack and time to choose activities in the classroom. That gives parents and daughters a practical way to explore the space together. The next session is on 9 October 2026, from 10.30am to 11.30am.
The Twigloo is another named feature of the Lower School environment. The Teddy Bear Picnic programme for 27 June 2026 advertised storytime in the Twigloo and a bear hunt. These family events offer different ways to become familiar with the school before joining.
Understanding a child’s needs starts with registration. Families provide information about medical conditions, food requirements, intolerances and allergies. The form also asks about special educational needs or disabilities and requests relevant documents, creating an opportunity to share information before entry.
School-wide SEND arrangements include a SENDCo and a SEN team that advises teachers on classroom adjustments. Recommended pupils can receive individual or small-group help with areas such as emotional skills, social interaction and mathematics. These are school-wide arrangements; families should distinguish them from an individual support plan for their daughter.
Pre-School attendance does not guarantee a Reception place. Treat Reception as a separate admissions step through the school’s registration process. Registration precedes the play-based assessment, which takes place in January of the entry year.
Preparation for starting Reception is a separate matter from obtaining a place. The transition programme includes a visit to a child’s existing nursery or pre-school, a Forest Day with a buddy, and a Moving up Morning involving the classroom and outdoor play. Meet and Mingle gives parents an opportunity to meet staff and other families before the summer break.
Enquiries go to admissions@thequeensschool.co.uk or 01244 312078. Families can arrange an individual tour, with online booking also offered. A visit provides an opportunity to meet staff and discuss the proposed entry point.
The school participates in a nursery voucher scheme. Contact the school for current charges. Its general fee framework separates tuition from extras including uniform, outings and lunches, so families should review the applicable terms before accepting a place.
