Nursery at All Saints Church of England Primary School

A church-based classroom and a deliberately low-tech approach give All Saints nursery its character. Children join from age three, with indoor and outdoor provision at Saint Anne and All Saints' Church. This is the nursery belonging to All Saints Church of England Primary School, with a focus on communication and physical skills rather than screens.
In March 2024, the provision had 52 places. Morning, afternoon and full-time patterns give families different ways to use it, while the classroom's church location makes the relationship between the nursery and the main school a practical part of the day.
Language comes first. Computers and interactive whiteboards are excluded from the nursery's approach; instead, resources are chosen to develop communication alongside larger movements and finer hand control. These are the skills the curriculum targets as children prepare for school. Morning provision is teacher led.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the nursery's early education phase. Vocabulary and communication were its curriculum priorities in March 2024. For parents, that puts learning to express ideas and understand language at the centre of the educational plan.
Indoor and outdoor facilities belong to the church-based provision. Full-time children also walk to the main school for lunch, so their day includes a change of setting and a meal in the school hall alongside other pupils.
Curriculum and equipment. Ofsted's March 2024 inspection identified unfinished implementation of the early years curriculum and shortcomings in the nursery's layout and resources. The nursery environment needed to support the curriculum's ambitions more closely. That is a material consideration for families assessing the learning space. Inspectors also found that some subject leaders understood too little about the links between early years learning and their subjects. As a result, expectations in some subjects were too low for children entering Year 1. Those leaders needed further training and support.
Lunch has two routes: children can bring food from home or have a school dinner. A packed lunch or snack is permitted, and full-time children eat at the main school. Families can therefore choose between home-provided food and a school meal.
For communication with nursery teaching staff, use nursery@allsaints.coventry.sch.uk or the class contact form. Messages are checked at least weekly; urgent questions should go to the office. This gives routine messages a clear route while keeping time-sensitive concerns separate.
ASPIRE provides a confidential contact channel monitored by pastoral staff. The school's inclusion information also explains curriculum adaptations for children with special educational needs. All school staff receive child protection training, and welfare concerns can be raised with a designated safeguarding lead.
Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate application through Coventry City Council's online primary admissions service; the school office does not allocate those places.
For September 2026 entry, the on-time deadline was 15 January 2026. That cycle is past. The important practical distinction remains: a nursery application and a Reception application are separate steps, and families must meet the deadline for their child's Reception entry year.
The afternoon session runs from 12:15 to 15:15, and the full-time pattern from 09:00 to 15:00. An additional paid extension can cover 08:45 to 15:15 for children attending all day, subject to space.
Universal funding provides 15 hours each week in term time from the term following a child's third birthday, taken here as five mornings or five afternoons. Eligible families can receive another 15 funded hours. Paid additional hours depend on availability, and topping up a half-day pattern to full time requires a minimum weekly booking of 15 extra hours. Ask the school for current charges.
Drop-off and collection use the entrance behind the church, at the junction of Acacia Avenue and Strathmore Avenue. Prompt collection matters: late pickups may incur a charge. Nursery applications can be made online, with paper forms returned to the office or admin@allsaints.coventry.sch.uk. Visits can also be arranged.
Children must be at least three on their first day. Places for children starting immediately after turning three depend on the nursery being under-subscribed.
The approach is low tech, focusing on language, communication and physical skills. The nursery does not use computers or interactive whiteboards.
