Nursery at Ewell Grove Primary and Nursery School

Three session patterns give Ewell Grove’s nursery a clear practical shape: mornings, afternoons or a six-hour day, each running Monday to Friday. This is term-time provision for three- and four-year-olds within Ewell Grove Primary and Nursery School, on West Street in Ewell. Places covering 15 or 30 hours are offered subject to availability.
Children normally begin in September after turning three. The school’s stated approach puts early-years principles at the centre of its thinking and aims to protect the distinctive experiences of childhood.
A morning session runs from 08:30 to 11:30; afternoon children attend from 12:30 to 15:30. The 30-hour pattern runs from 08:30 to 14:30. These are five-day arrangements, so families choose between a shorter daily session and a longer day rather than selecting individual weekdays.
Ewell Grove says it builds on children’s existing experiences as they move through school. Its emphasis on relationships and childhood gives parents a useful starting point for understanding the nursery’s intended character: learning begins with the child’s experience.
Additional needs are handled through the school’s Inclusion Lead/SENCo and a cycle called Assess, Plan, Do and Review. Parents contribute to identifying needs and agreeing support, with a review date established alongside the planned adjustments. That gives families a defined process for discussing what their child needs and revisiting the response.
Support can involve changes to the learning environment, specialist equipment or extra adult help. Advice from specialists informs individual provision where appropriate. An Individual Support Plan records a child’s strengths, needs, intended outcomes and support; families receive a copy each term. This makes the planned help something parents can discuss in concrete detail.
Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and the Educational Psychology Service are among the outside services supporting the school. Referrals require parental permission. For an initial concern, parents are encouraged to speak to their child’s class teacher; concerns can then be discussed with the Inclusion Leader or Head Teacher.
Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate application through Surrey County Council’s coordinated admissions process, using the normal route and deadline. For September 2026 entry, the deadline was 15 January 2026; that admissions cycle is past.
For that intake, nursery attendance gave no priority: the oversubscription categories covered looked-after and previously looked-after children, qualifying children of staff, siblings and other applicants. Choosing the nursery should therefore be a decision about the nursery experience itself.
Transition support is a separate matter. Reception teachers liaise with children’s nurseries, while the Inclusion Leader receives information about children who may need additional support.
The 30-hour extended entitlement requires an eligibility code. Parents must apply for it in the term before they want the entitlement to begin; without a code, they cannot claim the extension and are liable for charges incurred. Contact the school for current charges.
Nursery enquiries go to the school office at office.ewellgrove@lumenlearningtrust.co.uk or 0208 393 4393. The office operates from 8am to 4.30pm on weekdays during term time. Its address is 29 West Street, Ewell, Surrey, KT17 1UZ.
The nursery serves three- and four-year-olds. Children normally start in September after their third birthday.
Monday-to-Friday options are mornings from 08:30 to 11:30, afternoons from 12:30 to 15:30, or the 30-hour pattern from 08:30 to 14:30. Places are subject to availability.
No. A separate application is required through Surrey County Council. Nursery attendance was not a priority category for September 2026 Reception entry.
An eligibility code is required. Apply in the term before the entitlement is due to start. Without a code, parents cannot claim the extension and are liable for charges incurred.
Parents help agree adjustments and support, contribute to reviews and receive their child’s Individual Support Plan each term. Permission is obtained before referrals to outside agencies.
