Conversation and independent choice give All Saints Nursery its character. Children choose their activities, while adults build vocabulary through everyday exchanges. This is the nursery provision of Huthwaite All Saints Church of England Infant and Nursery School, welcoming children from age two at the All Saints Centre on Common Road, Huthwaite.
The nursery occupies a separate site from the infant school, within the same postcode. That distinction matters when planning the family journey. In Ofsted’s report dated 3 March 2026, early years reached the Expected standard; this is an early years judgement within the school inspection, rather than a separate nursery rating.
Language development has a clear purpose here. Many children begin early years needing help with talking, communicating and social development, so the curriculum concentrates on building those foundations. In March 2026, nursery teaching was effective and children were progressing positively. For a parent, the emphasis is on developing the skills children need to join in and express themselves.
Adults extend conversations throughout the day, introducing vocabulary for comparing quantities, including more, fewer and most. Learning alongside children of different ages also helps develop conversation and social skills. These are practical opportunities to practise language with other people.
An orderly, calm learning space supports children in selecting activities for themselves, building confidence through choice. Play forms part of the school’s teaching approach. Teaching development. In March 2026, further staff expertise in teaching through play remained a school-wide improvement priority, alongside consistent expectations for forming letters. Families should weigh that continuing development alongside the positive nursery findings.
Support starts early: welcoming two-year-olds helps staff recognise additional needs and respond at the beginning of a child’s education. Within early years, communication resources and quiet spaces for managing feelings help children who need extra support return to learning. The emphasis is on participation alongside other children.
Families and outside professionals contribute to understanding each child’s needs and planning support. The early years space also enables children with special educational needs and/or disabilities to play and learn with their peers. From Nursery onwards, daily contact with parents and predictable routines support attendance habits, giving families regular contact with staff.
Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions process and meet the deadline for their child’s entry year. Applications for September 2024 entry went through Nottinghamshire County Council. Confirm the route and deadline for your child’s entry year. Treat choosing nursery and applying for school as two separate decisions.
Morning sessions run from 8:30am to 11:30am; afternoon sessions run from 12:15pm to 3:15pm. These are distinct session windows, so plan collection around the nursery’s times.
In November 2022, the nursery announced both 15-hour and 30-hour entitlement places for children with the correct funding, and acceptance of two-year-old funding.
