Nursery at SS Peter and Paul's Catholic Primary School

A two-year curriculum cycle gives this nursery its distinctive shape: children can join from two years old, and learning is planned to develop across their time here rather than simply repeat. That matters for families choosing an early start. Different groups attend the morning and afternoon sessions.
The nursery belongs to SS Peter and Paul's Catholic Primary School on Gordon Road in Ilford. Its Catholic character reaches into early learning through religious education, singing and Christmas performance, giving families a clear sense of the setting's identity.
Morning children attend from 8.45am to 11.45am; the afternoon group comes from 12.30pm to 3.30pm. Different cohorts attend the morning and afternoon sessions, each lasting three hours.
Within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), music means opportunities to dance, sing and experiment with music. Singing starts in Nursery, while EYFS children can perform a Nativity for their families at Christmas. This gives musical exploration a performance element too. Books have a physical home in the Learning Resource Centre: all children visit its library, where choosing books adds a personal element to reading.
Personal and social learning uses Jigsaw PSHE from the Foundation Stage. Its themes include Being Me in My World, Healthy Me and Relationships, with reflection and circle-time discussion helping children think about emotions and other people. Religious education uses the Diocese of Brentwood programme To Know You More Clearly in EYFS. Each classroom also has a prayer focus area, linking a concrete space to the religious learning taking place.
Emotional language is part of the school's approach. Zones of Regulation uses four colours to help children recognise and express feelings; the school aims to help them develop ways to manage those feelings. For parents, that provides a vocabulary to understand alongside their child.
Family support includes Place2Be guidance on separation and goodbyes, playing together and sleep difficulties. These are resources for parents, rather than a description of nursery care routines. SEND enquiries have a direct route through the school's SENCO at senco@sspeterandpauls.redbridge.sch.uk. The wider family support links include Redbridge Local Offer and Redbridgeiass, giving parents additional routes to advice.
Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal process by the normal deadline. Treat that application as a distinct step, even if your child already attends nursery.
The administration team handles enquiries at admin.sspeterandpauls@redbridge.gov.uk, or by telephone on 0208 478 1267. Nursery applications have their own supplementary information forms, separate from the Reception forms. Choose the documents for the relevant application year.
