Nursery at St Anthony's Catholic Primary School

A new outdoor play area and a choice of morning, afternoon or all-day attendance give Bright Star Nursery its own identity within St Anthony's Catholic Primary School. Based on Genoa Road in Anerley, this is nursery provision within a Catholic primary school, rather than a separate school.
Bright Star welcomes children aged 2 to 3; its session arrangements also cover children aged 2 to 4. The nursery aims to build independence alongside curiosity and confidence. That emphasis puts children's readiness to take part in school life alongside their first learning experiences. Funded and non-funded places are offered.
Families can choose a morning ending at noon, an afternoon beginning at noon, or a day running from 9am until 3pm. These are distinct attendance patterns, giving parents a choice between a shorter session and a longer nursery day. The new outdoor play area adds space for physical play to the nursery's provision.
Music starts early here. Nursery children listen to music and join in with familiar songs and rhymes, beginning to recognise musical pulse and meaning. Singing gives them an active part in the experience, rather than making music something they only listen to.
Within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), science connects with learning across topics. The emphasis is on making connections, so exploration of the world is linked to other learning rather than treated only as a separate subject.
Life to the Full, from Ten Ten Resources, includes an EYFS stage for relationship and health education. Its themes include feelings, personal relationships and keeping safe, within a Catholic context. An Online Parental Portal supports conversations between home and school about this learning. Faith is part of the educational approach, something families should weigh alongside the practical nursery arrangements.
Additional support sits within the school's Graduated Approach to special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Observation and assessment help identify needs, while targeted plans set out strategies for support. Parents and external professionals are involved, giving families a role in shaping the help their child receives.
The school's Early Help Offer includes pastoral support and connections with educational psychologists and speech and language therapists. Families can contact the SENCO at sen@st-anthonys.bromley.sch.uk. For safeguarding concerns, parents can approach a designated lead or deputy through the school office. These provide separate routes for discussing learning needs and concerns about a child's welfare.
Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate application through their home local authority. Bromley residents use the Common Application Form through the Primary Schools Admissions Portal; families living in another borough apply through that borough. Choosing Bright Star therefore leaves a further application to complete when Reception entry approaches.
Morning attendance runs from 9am to noon, with collection between noon and 12.10pm. Afternoon sessions run from noon to 3pm, while all-day attendance runs from 9am to 3pm. Both finish with a collection window from 3pm to 3.10pm, giving families a clear timetable for pick-up.
Fully funded places are offered alongside non-funded places. Contact the school for current charges. Nursery enquiries go through the office on 020 8778 7681 or admin@st-anthonys.bromley.sch.uk. School tours can also be arranged through the office, giving prospective parents a way to see the setting before choosing it.
