Nursery at Mount Carmel Catholic Primary School

Twenty-six full-time places give Mount Carmel's nursery a clear shape: a school-day provision for children joining in September after their third birthday. It forms part of Mount Carmel Catholic Primary School on Little Ealing Lane in Ealing. The planned intake for 2026-27 is 26 children, with attendance from Monday to Friday.
The Catholic character extends across school life. Mount Carmel aims to provide a Catholic education and expects families to support that ethos, making this an important consideration alongside the practical fit of the nursery day.
The full-time day runs from 8.30am to 3.20pm. For families organising work and collection, those fixed times are the starting point for judging whether the arrangement fits.
Learning about feelings has a named starting point in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS): The Colour monster introduces the Zones of regulation programme. Children and adults check their emotional zones during the day and identify what might help. That gives young children a way to begin recognising feelings and discussing the support they need.
Preparation begins before children start. Home visits, visits to school and meetings with parents help staff learn about individual needs; contact with a previous educational setting adds another perspective. New children can also spend a short time in their future class, giving them some familiarity before the move.
For concerns about special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), the first conversation is with the class teacher. Where classroom adjustments are insufficient, a meeting with the Inclusion Lead establishes a plan for support and monitoring. Continued concerns may lead to referrals for speech and language therapy or occupational therapy.
Children on the SEND register have scheduled calls between their teacher and parents each half term. SEN support plans are reviewed termly, while an Education, Health and Care plan has an annual review. These provide regular opportunities to discuss support and agree changes. Lunch and an additional hour of qualified staff time form part of the charged provision beyond funded hours.
Nursery attendance gives no priority for Reception and does not guarantee a place. Families must make a separate application through their home local authority, using a Common Application Form or eAdmissions, and return the school's Supplementary Information Form with the relevant paperwork. For September 2027 entry, the closing date is 14 January 2027. Treat this as a separate task from nursery enrolment.
Transition arrangements address familiarity rather than admission. When children move between classes, staff share plans with the new teacher in advance and arrange a planning meeting. Children visit their new class and have summer transition passports containing photographs and information about their next teachers and learning spaces.
The funding model distinguishes 15 funded hours from eligibility for 30 funded hours. Eligible families must provide their funding code before joining in September and renew it every three months. Charges for lunch and additional staff time still apply under the 30-hour arrangement; contact the school for current charges.
Paid bookings remain payable when a child misses a session, including through illness or holidays. School holidays, bank holidays and training days are excluded from charges. Invoices arrive each half term through Clear Books. Late collection can attract an extra charge, so the 3.20pm finish matters.
Nursery applications go directly to the school. Contact admissions@mountcarmel.ealing.sch.uk or the school office; school tours are available, with the office handling enquiries if a tour has been missed.
