Stories, songs and rhymes in French and English give the early years at Jacques Prévert their defining character. This is the nursery provision of an independent school in Brook Green, following the French national education system. For families choosing it, the central distinction is the educational model: early learning belongs to a French school context, with both languages present from the start.
A school announcement described a pre-reception nursery opening in September 2024. The school’s registered age range starts at two, but no two-year-olds were enrolled at the June 2025 inspection. That distinction matters when considering the youngest children. Ofsted graded early years provision Outstanding following its inspection on 3 to 5 June 2025; this was an early-years judgement within the school inspection.
Language begins with listening. Children encounter songs, storytelling and rhymes in both languages at the beginning of their learning. These give young children ways to engage with French and English before formal reading instruction, making language part of shared activities rather than only a reading lesson.
Learning follows a deliberately ordered curriculum from the early years onwards. Knowledge is introduced and returned to across learning cycles, helping children connect new ideas with things they have already encountered. In June 2025, confidence developed alongside an ambitious curriculum and a caring school culture. The combination matters: expectations for learning sit alongside support for children’s growing confidence.
The French curriculum also changes how parents should understand the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) here. The school is exempt from its learning and development requirements, while its welfare duties still apply. Families are therefore choosing the French educational framework rather than assuming the usual EYFS learning requirements govern the programme.
The June 2025 findings confirm that EYFS welfare requirements were fulfilled. That gives parents a specific assurance about early-years care obligations alongside the curriculum exemption: exemption from learning requirements does not remove those welfare responsibilities.
Team responsibilities include a deputy leadership role covering child protection and school climate, alongside a pupil-life lead and an EBEP reference teacher. These are distinct responsibilities within the school team, separating oversight of protection and wellbeing from other aspects of school life.
Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place. Ask the school about its published admission arrangements for the next stage. Treat choosing the nursery and securing the next school place as separate decisions; familiarity with a setting should never be mistaken for an admission entitlement.
The school’s contact address is 59 Brook Green, London W6 7BE. General enquiries can be sent to info@ecoleprevert.org.uk or made by telephone on 020 7602 6871. A contact-page message form provides another enquiry route.
Absence and lateness reporting use a separate route. Parents are directed to the dedicated reporting facility rather than the general message form, so routine attendance messages should go through that channel.
