Learning to work together starts early at Brindishe Manor: nursery children practise staying with a task, while writing and early number receive deliberate attention. This is the school's own nursery on Leahurst Road, for children from three until the start of the academic year in which they turn five.
Ofsted rated the school's early years provision Outstanding at the inspection on 22 and 23 May 2024. That judgement covers early years within the school; it is not a separate nursery rating. For parents, the useful detail is the emphasis on concentration, cooperation and the beginnings of literacy and mathematics.
Writing opportunities and early number are concrete features of the early years curriculum. In May 2024, children had repeated chances to develop writing, and teaching established the foundations of number. These are building blocks for later learning: children begin developing the skills they will use to express ideas and understand quantities.
Working alongside other children matters too. Cooperation is taught from early years, and nursery children receive support to keep their attention on activities for longer periods. The focus extends beyond completing an activity to developing the habits that help children participate in learning.
Each class has a classroom of its own within Brindishe Manor's traditional building. Shared facilities include outdoor learning areas, a room for music and dance, and two sizeable halls. Classes can also use resource spaces and learning zones. This gives the nursery a place within a wider school setting with spaces beyond the classroom, rather than making one room the limit of children's learning environment.
Additional support can include adapted teaching, extra adult help and materials chosen for a child's learning needs. The federation's SEND approach also includes small changes to buildings where needed. Brindishe Manor's site is accessible throughout, a practical consideration for families whose child has mobility needs.
Parents and carers are involved in support, and specialist advice from outside school can be sought where necessary. Children's progress is tracked so that support can respond to their needs. This gives families a role in discussing what helps their child access learning.
A nursery place does not guarantee Reception admission at Brindishe Manor or another Brindishe school. Families must make a separate application online through their home local authority using eAdmissions. Nursery attendance is not among the Reception priority criteria listed on the admissions page.
Treat the nursery choice and the Reception application as separate decisions. Apply again at the appropriate time for your child's entry year; attending nursery does not replace that application.
Morning places provide 15 hours, with sessions from 9am to noon. The full-time pattern provides 30 hours and runs from 9am to 3pm; eligibility conditions apply to the 30-hour funded entitlement. The shorter and longer patterns give families distinct daily collection times to plan around.
Nursery application forms are obtained by emailing the school office. For a visit, the nursery open day on 12 January 2027 runs from 4pm to 5pm. Email your name and contact details to info-BM@brindisheschools.org to book; attendance requires a booking.
