Nursery at Langdon Academy

A school setting with room to spread out: Langdon Academy has a 43-acre greenfield site in East Ham, and nursery provision belongs to this state all-through academy. The address is Sussex Road, London, E6 2PS. For families considering its nursery, the surrounding primary phase provides useful context for learning, communication and everyday school routines.
Langdon’s stated values include inclusion, determination and respect. The primary curriculum aims to build children’s understanding through practical experiences, giving learning a purpose beyond completing a task.
Practical learning is a theme across the primary phase. Educational visits, visitors, themed events and family learning days are used to encourage curiosity. These are different ways of connecting a subject with something children can experience or discuss.
In Reception, Langdon’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum brings together language, movement, relationships, reading, numbers, creativity and the surrounding world. Reception learning takes place indoors and outdoors. This provides context for the next stage of education rather than describing nursery sessions.
In the wider primary curriculum, Read to Write supports writing from EYFS onwards. Its teaching uses children’s literature as a starting point, connecting vocabulary with opportunities to write. Across the primary phase, White Rose provides the mathematics framework, combining practical work, pictures and written methods. The school values talking through mathematical ideas, making explanation part of learning rather than focusing solely on answers.
Communication has a concrete route. Across the primary phase, ClassDojo carries photographs, videos and messages between teachers and families. Parents can also message their child’s class teacher directly. Weekly primary updates go through ClassDojo and email, giving families another way to keep up with school life.
Primary pupils receive lunchtime meals free of charge. This is a primary-phase arrangement; it should not be treated as a separate nursery meal entitlement.
Family involvement includes coffee mornings with speech and language themes, opportunities to learn alongside children and school dinner tastings. These give parents practical ways to participate in the primary community.
Attending the nursery does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions process. Langdon has adopted Newham’s admission arrangements, and the Reception route is through Newham or the family’s home local authority, using the Pan London eAdmissions portal.
Treat that application as a separate decision from choosing nursery care. Being familiar with the school does not itself secure an offer.

Primary uniform combines a burgundy sweatshirt or cardigan with a white polo shirt and black bottoms. Logos are optional on the sweatshirt, cardigan and polo shirt, and families can buy these items from any retailer, including second-hand suppliers. That flexibility matters when assembling school clothing.
