Nursery at Monega Primary School

A nursery garden and a Nursery Carnival give Monega’s youngest children a distinct place within the primary school. This is school-attached provision on Monega Road in Manor Park, with nursery nurses forming part of the staff team. The combination gives families a nursery setting within a larger school organisation.
In January 2022, Ofsted graded the school’s early years provision Outstanding. That judgement covers early years within the school; it is not a separate nursery inspection or nursery-only rating.
Reading, writing and discovery are the clearest themes in the early years learning here. In January 2022, children were developing confidence with written language and exploring their surroundings. Those findings give parents a useful picture of the learning emphasis: growing confidence in literacy alongside curiosity about the world.
The Nursery Garden supplies a concrete outdoor feature, while the Nursery Carnival adds a named example of children’s activities. Together, they give the nursery an identity beyond classroom learning. The garden is a physical part of that picture; the carnival is an example of an event, rather than a promise about the routine of each session.
Nursery nurses are part of Monega’s staffing structure. Across the school, support roles also include a family support worker, a pupil welfare manager and teaching assistants working with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). These are school team roles, so families should distinguish the nursery staff from the wider support organisation around them.
Safeguarding procedures apply across the school. Staff undertake safeguarding training regularly, and the school works with other agencies on protecting children from harm. Recruitment and visitor procedures are also part of its safeguarding arrangements. These are practical measures affecting the adults who work with children and access the premises.
For a safeguarding concern, parents can speak to school leaders at the gate or email headteacher@monega.theboleyntrust.org. Having both a direct conversation route and an email contact gives families two ways to raise an issue. Concerns need not wait for a general office enquiry.
Attending Monega’s nursery does not guarantee a Reception place. Nursery admission and Reception admission are separate processes: families must apply again through the normal Reception application route and meet the normal deadline.
Separate application. Treat the Reception application as a distinct step in your child’s schooling. A nursery place should not be treated as confirmation of a later school place.
The school office handles enquiries by telephone on 020 8472 0533, by email at info@monega.theboleyntrust.org and through a contact form. Its opening hours are 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. Those are office hours, rather than nursery session times, which matters when planning contact with the school.
Travel options include East Ham Underground station and the Overground stations at Woodgrange Park and Manor Park. Buses 474, 101 and 104 serve the Ruskin Avenue stop, giving families several public transport options for reaching the school on Monega Road, London E12 6TT.
Parking. There is no parking available at the school. Visitor permits for nearby street parking can be purchased through an enquiry to the main office. For families travelling by car, that makes the parking arrangements a separate part of planning the journey.
