A separate Nursery classroom, space for shared early-years activities and an Islamic ethos give this provision its character. Quwwat Ul Islam Girls' School announced its nursery opening for April 2026, extending provision to children from age three at its Forest Gate site.
The nursery sits within an independent school, with its own classroom alongside Reception. That arrangement gives younger children a distinct base while allowing activities to bring the two groups together. The school aims to help children feel secure, express themselves and treat others respectfully. Its Islamic ethos shapes those aims, alongside attention to children's physical, emotional and social development.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) provides the curriculum framework. Nursery planning includes the areas of early learning and works towards the early learning goals, giving the provision a developmental focus rather than simply introducing school subjects earlier.
Language is a clear thread. In June 2024, Ofsted found that early-years staff used discussion and conversation to build children's vocabulary, while regular progress checks shaped subsequent activities around individual development. Those findings concern the school's early years at that time, before the nursery opening announced for April 2026.
For the new Nursery class, planning carried forward opportunities to explore words and language. The school aims to challenge children appropriately and encourage independence, connecting learning with skills they can use as their education continues.
The physical layout supports both separate and shared activity. By December 2025, the early-years accommodation had been expanded and reconfigured, with distinct Nursery and Reception classrooms inside a larger indoor area. Space for joint activities gives the nursery a connection to the next stage while retaining its own room.
Respect and children's voices are explicit priorities: the school aims for children to feel heard as well as safe. Nursery planning included induction, making the beginning of school life part of the educational preparation.
Child-sized care facilities are a concrete feature. By December 2025, newly installed toilets and facilities for washing catered for nursery-age children, supporting everyday personal care within the redesigned accommodation.
Plans also addressed special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), including children with an education, health and care plan. They included identifying needs, setting targets and providing support. There is a relevant caution: the June 2024 graded inspection identified a school-wide need for greater specialist SEND expertise among staff. Families should weigh that concern alongside the planned support, rather than treating curriculum access and specialist expertise as interchangeable.
Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through the school's admission process. The online application includes Reception as an entry year, and submitting an application does not itself secure admission.
Shared activity space is useful educational continuity. It should be understood separately from the decision about a Reception place.
The nursery is at 16 Chaucer Road, Forest Gate, London E7 9NB. Forest Gate Rail and Wanstead Park Rail (Overground) are the closest stations, useful reference points when planning the journey.
