Apple Blossom mornings and Cherry Blossom full days give Ramridge’s nursery two distinct rhythms. Both classes belong to the school’s early years provision in Luton, with a qualified teacher leading every session. The practical difference is substantial: Apple Blossom finishes at noon, while Cherry Blossom continues until mid-afternoon.
The full-time offer covers children born between 1st September 2022 and 31st August 2023. Ramridge describes its approach as values-based, bringing respect, honesty and understanding into learning alongside children’s developing independence.
Play and familiar routines are the clearest features of the early years day. In April 2022, Ofsted found that predictable routines helped younger children become independent and stay engaged, while purposeful play gave them opportunities to revisit their learning. For parents, that describes learning through activity, with routines helping children take a more active part in the session.
Apple Blossom has PE on Wednesday, adding a specific movement activity to its timetable. Ramridge describes the school’s learning environment as including both indoor and outdoor space; that description applies to the school rather than identifying a particular nursery garden or room.
The curriculum also carries the school’s values approach. Ramridge aims to help children develop skills for their time at school and their later lives, using values such as trust and respect within teaching. Its emphasis combines learning with how children relate to others.
Every nursery session has qualified teacher leadership, giving both the morning and full-day patterns the same stated staffing foundation. Families also receive termly information about learning, with nursery curriculum letters covering planned learning and reminders. That gives parents a way to connect conversations at home with classroom activity.
Communication extends beyond those termly updates. Across the school, parents can speak with staff at the start and end of the day, alongside consultation evenings in autumn and spring. These provide both informal contact and scheduled opportunities to discuss a child’s progress.
Attending Ramridge’s nursery does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must apply separately through the normal Reception admissions process and meet its deadline. Treat the nursery choice and the Reception application as two separate decisions.
Curriculum continuity. In April 2022, some connections between early years learning and Year 1 needed greater clarity. The improvement priority was to help teachers build more precisely on children’s existing knowledge as they progressed through school.
Apple Blossom runs from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.; Cherry Blossom runs from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. These are different session lengths, so the collection time matters when planning work and other childcare.
Ramridge offers 30-hour nursery places for the stated birth cohort. Wraparound childcare is available alongside full-time sessions and carries additional charges. Contact the school for current charges before budgeting for care beyond the nursery session.
